Nice big dog park with huge redwoods and good size hills to walk and play on and around. It can be busy in late afternoon when the after-work people bring their furry friends but my dog loves having so many friends to play with (new and old). There is always at least one good runner to race with and usually a good doggie play-bite-face wrestling peer for him to frolick with. Nice and friendly people too! It's always clean too, as there are poop scoops and garbage cans within easy reach of any of the big areas. Parking is also great there. It can be muddy in really wet weather and there is a big and slippery puddle at one end for naughty dogs to get filthy in but it doesn't dominate the park by any means. The hills can be slick during extended drenching rains but it still feels pretty cozy under all those huge and beautiful trees. Of course in summer it's got to be the coolest dog park in Sac, with sunny areas interspersed with nice expanses of shade and dappled light. And, bless their hearts, the powers-that-be always have some lights on for when we get there after dark. If you love dogs and the crazy games the play you'll love it here. There's room to play with your critter one on one and multiple other canines for their social pleasure too. Up to you. Maybe we'll...
Read moreGreat dog park. There isnt a seperate area for small dogs but i think thats great every time ive went all the dogs big huskys and Chow Chows have gotten along great with the itty bitties there. Owners are really friendly and open to conversation and are nice people they actually watch their dogs and give attention to the other dogs that come up to them. The reason it isnt 5 stars for me is because lately (since its the holiday season i guess) incidents have been happening at the park mostly involving peoples cars being broken into, but besides that its a great dog park. I have only heard of one incident where a real fight broke out but ive been coming here for 3months so thats a good record. If your dog isnt dog friendly or people friendly either one DONT BRING THEM TO THE DOG PARK THERE ARE PEOPLE AND DOGS HERE SO IF THEY DONT LIKE ONE OF THEM KEEP THEM AT HOME AWAY FROM...
Read moreDo not take smaller dog here. I did and a big dog tried attack her. Regulars told me they gang up on the smaller dogs. Do not be selfish and make your little dog adjust to the intimidation. Very large dogs I never seen that large go here. So alot of alpha energy. There is no fence separating large dogs from smaller. The medium sized dogs seem do ok. But my mini pin terrier got nipped in butt by huge dog. They lady was nice she explained to me the large dogs treat them as grpoundhogs to tear up. It really is for larger dogs if we all complain to city maybe they put in fenced area for smaller dogs or put a sign on fence saying...
