Our family of 3 adults decided to stay at the Inn for the Solar eclipse after reading reviews on TripAdvisor and a positive recommendation from a friend who lived in San Angelo. The Inn was only a 2 hour drive to the center of totality and moderately priced unlike the hotels in the path of totality. We stayed in Ponderosa 1 & 2 to provide a separate adjoining room for our adult daughter. Both rooms are air-conditioned operated by a hand held remote control. Once we mastered the temperature settings the rooms were comfortable throughout our stay. Ponderosa 1 was adequately furnished with a very comfortable queen bed, two bedside drawer cabinets, a loveseat, table and small desk with chair. The walls are adorned with random cut wood panels, molding and planks which provide texture and an artistic touch. There are holes drilled randomly in the walls that are the perfect size for inserting wine bottle corks as we and many other guests have done, a somewhat eclectic touch. Ponderosa 1 also has a small refrigerator, a coffee maker and a small TV. The TV uses streaming rather than cable but if you have a cable subscription you can login to that if you prefer - just remember to delete your login before you checkout. Ponderosa 2 is similarly appointed and furnished, just smaller than Ponderosa 1. The rooms share a hallway that leads to the shared bathroom with shower, sink and WC. Adjacent to Ponderosa 1 & 2 is a small kitchen which is shared by all guests at the Inn and provides a full-size refrigerator, coffee maker and assorted cereals, beverages, juices and frozen breakfast sandwiches. Our 5-night stay at the Inn included the First Saturday Art Market featuring an array of artists and crafters resident to the Art Center plus additional artists from around the area. See TripAdvisor reviews of the Art Market at Things to Do. We ate two meals at the Silo and both were excellent in terms of food and service but the restaurant is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Overall we had a pleasant stay at The Inn. Not a 5-star experience but I only reserve 5-stars for the best...
Read moreUnlike anywhere else we have stayed at. If your idea of a hotel is a place with identical rooms and uniformity then don’t come here. What you have is a former chicken farm with the coops now housing various artist’s studios and several individual bedrooms. It really is different and we were very pleased with our room. It comes with downsides however - the area is probably not a good place to walk at night, and the breakfast consists of frozen rolls which you microwave. The restaurant is open from Thursday to Sunday and as we were outside these days we went to the restaurants in town using an Uber. That said the advantage of the restaurant not being open was that we could use their table and chairs to sit out. Miss Hatties restaurant in town was suggested to us by the inn keeper and we can highly recommend it. The few artists we met were...
Read moreWe really enjoyed ourselves. The property is pretty large and there are a lot of shops hidden in every nook. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every minute of it. The Hacienda Room was excellent, like sleeping on my Grandparents back porch when younger. Lot's of art shops on the premises to go through, me a lot of great, interesting people. Spent too much money! The had an outdoor music festival on Saturday that was amazing. The art is everywhere; in every nook and cranny of the property and the rooms. Price to stay was reasonable and the staff was excellent, especially Sabrina. She would come over and tell us what was coming to the property and neat things to do in the area. The property is quiet and peaceful, like sitting in your...
