Great trail. It's concrete, heavily wooded and has a cool little creek running right beside it most of the way. There are also markers telling you how much distance you have traveled and there are also rest areas along the trail to sit and take a breather if needed or just to sit and enjoy nature and all the sounds associated with the great outdoors. The is only one drinking fountain at the entrance of the trail so if you are going to walk or run the trail you need to bring your own bottle or camel pack. It gets very hot and humid during the day so be aware of that. Many people and families are seen walking and enjoying the trail so it's not secluded at all. But, always be aware of your surroundings non the less....
Read moreGreat trailhead. Lots of families walking, great for kids, cool natural surroundings. Excellent 4 mile walk to the end and back. Unfortunately I have seen broken glass in the parking spaces. My brother has now had his car broken into with nothing visible to take. It was during a busy evening at the park. There needs to be security or more police observance. I frequent the Howard Peak Greenway Trail system throughout the city, and this is the first time I have observed this at one of the trailheads.
