The US Army Medical Department Museum is an outstanding and fascinating institution that offers a unique and informative glimpse into the history of military medicine in America. This museum is truly a hidden gem, filled with exhibits and displays that showcase the courage, dedication, and innovation of the men and women who have served in the Army's medical corps.

One of the things that sets the US Army Medical Department Museum apart is its exceptional attention to detail. The exhibits are beautifully designed and curated, with a wealth of historical artifacts and interactive displays that truly bring the history of military medicine to life. From antique surgical tools to state-of-the-art medical technology, the museum's collection is truly awe-inspiring.

In addition to its impressive collection of artifacts, the museum also offers a wide range of educational programs and events. Visitors can attend lectures and workshops on topics ranging from battlefield medicine to the latest developments in military healthcare, and there are always knowledgeable staff members on hand to answer questions and provide additional information.

Overall, I highly recommend the US Army Medical Department Museum to anyone interested in the history of military medicine or the brave men and women who have served in the Army's medical corps. This museum is a true testament to the dedication and sacrifices of those who have worked to heal and protect our nation's servicemembers, and it is a must-visit destination for anyone who values our country's rich...

This is a super old review of the US Army Medical Department Museum, and I hope nothing much has changed.

I went there in 2014, I only had a short time there before closing.

I am a Nurse from the Singapore Army, and I absolutely and thoroughly loved every single exhibit, picture and piece of history there.

My short visit there had shaped my view of the importance of the military medical fraternity to the US forces, and how important it is to other militaries around the world as ambassadors of good will.

It has given me a strong sense or purpose in what I do till today (8 years later).

If and when I ever get a chance to go back to San Antonio, or Fort Sam, I will dedicate an entire day there and read and see everything that I possibly can.

Thank you for sharing this important history lesson for...

We saw this on TripAdvisor and decided to visit. Tried to call to figure our logistics, but no answer. Took Uber to visitor center to gain entrance to the base. No one at center or gate knew where museum was, just somewhere on the :other side" of the base. Sent off in wrong direction twice. Not eve post office staff knew where it was. Finally used Google on my phone to find it. No staff at the museum, just walk in and you're on your own. Time to leave and did not want to make hike back to main gate since we were right next to a gate. Finally found a lady in the gift shop who got us address just outside the gate so we could call Uber. Interesting museum, a nice hike and an...

I had an absolutely awesome visit to Fort Sam Houston‘s, AMEDD museum. Ranging from the Indian wars to the more recent Middle eastern conflicts. This museum has everything about AMEDD‘s Nurse, Dental, Civilian, Veteranarian and Medical Service corps. The museum has a very wide array of tools, equipment, ambulances, medals, uniforms, if you can think of it, they probably have it. The curators are very kind and it’s worthwhile to have a chat with any of them! Many thanks to the workers of this museum for making it such a great experience!

What an amazing piece of history not only for our military medical troops but for our country. From the 1st steps in seeing the wall of those troops who were rewarded the medal of honor through the last steps of the museum bringing us into modern history, it is impossible to not be Over com with a sense of pride and honor for our country and the servicemen and women who have served us so selflessly. If you haven't had the opportunity to tour this museum I challenge you to take a couple of hours and tour this piece of history.

If you get a chance to go, please do. The museum features great military exibits and wonderful displays. Free to see. There's a few exibits that are still under development so please be respectful. It takes time to make a display that truly honors the folks in that historical event. Wheelchair friendly and mostly AC. Few areas are outside.
