I've never played Warhammer, but have really gotten interested in it recently. I had no idea where to start after reading up on Reddit and watching tons of YouTube videos. I got the Horus Rising book off Amazon and then really decided I wanted to get into the models. After deciding I wanted to build an Adepta Sororitas army, I purchased the core rule book and codex from the Games Workshop website for in store pickup here in San Antonio.
I swung in yesterday to pick up my books and was immediately greeted by John. John was awesome! Really welcoming and washed away any type of intimidation I had about getting into something new. John showed me some of the available models for the particular faction I was interested in, and was really great at answering my questions. Before I left, John gave me a primed and ready to paint Space Marine which I thought was really cool.
There were some guys playing a game in the back, so I brought my wife and kid back into the store so my wife could see what it is I've been talking about. Before we left, John gave us both a model because they were having their Miniature of the Month event.
Overall, John was awesome, and it seemed like everyone else in there was too! I'm really looking forward to getting into the hobby and anticipate many more visits to the Warhammer store here in...

Read moreAbsolutely fantastic experience.
I've been a fan of 40k lore for over 20 years, but had never dived into the table top/miniatures - and on a whim decided to make the pilgrimage to GW this afternoon. Best decision ever.
The entire experience from the moment I walked in to when I departed was nothing short of marvelous. The staff and owner are fantastic, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. That was evident not just from my interaction, but simply observing the community that was in store painting, preparing to play, or just perusing for their next buy.
I will say, as a long time fan whose remained very much in the side lines only interacting with various media and literature, it felt like I'd found a home again.
If you're at all on the fence, or just mildly intrigued with the hobby or lore, I hope this review will help push you over the fence so that you too can make that trip and give this amazing gem of a shop a try. You...
