Climbers Loop South Trailhead — Attraction in San Diego

My girlfriend and I are from Illinois and wanted to check this place out to get some climbing in on our week long San Diego vacation! The rock is slick and we kind of struggled to figure out what was where, even with Mountain Project, but overall we had an amazing day!

This place is gorgeous and the climbing just a short, but steep, hike up from the parking area.

It's a bit of a bummer that they close the gates at 5. If you park off the road past the gate make sure you get your car out of the gates by 5PM! We ended up rushing to our car and getting to the gate by 5:05 but it was...

This trail leads to a bunch of crags for climbing, all closed close together. If you are going to climb, this is a good place to be, but for the casual hiker this is a short but challenging trail that gains a lot of elevation- be advised that at certain points the appropriate safely great for climbing (at least a helmet for falling rocks) is a requirement to continue... Short loop off Junipero Serra up to the rock faces where the climbers climb. Rocky traverse across foot of the face is cool and not to difficult. Plenty of climbers on the day we were there. Pretty cool to see it up close. Picked up out Five Peak Challenge...
