Very nice dog friendly trail, go in the early morning to avoid all the people and dogs you’ll have the trail to yourself if you do. Also make sure to always check your doggo afterwards for ticks. This was my 3.5 month ol pups first hike and he came home with a tick on his face, poor lil dude. Overall he loved it and seeing him run around in nature made me happy. Enjoy your hike!

This is a great hiking location. The Reserve has a very nice visitor center. Tom Thompson gave us valuable info when we arrived as well as a map and instructions. Great info for kids and adults. It is 8000 acres and has 60 miles of trails. Be sure and wear good shoes and bring water and snacks. Really awesome place. Highly recommend.

Family oriented, clean, safe, parking good too. Easy hikes. Nice views, creeks and a small lake. Bathrooms available. Dog friendly, but please take care of your dog's waste. No homeless here... Yet at least.

The equestrian center has very nice facilities with picnic tables, barbecue pits, and 12x12 corrals. There is a small arena for turnouts/warm ups.

The trails are generally nice and well maintained. My only complaint is being restricted to very steep and challenging power line access roads when riding off the Grasslands Crossing. It is pretty clear the equestrian center gets little use, and it is likely due to the limitation on where one may ride.

That said, these are superior trails for conditioning endurance horses for elevation and climbing. There really is nowhere else in San Diego one could prepare a horse adequately for a ride like Tevis, Virginia City, or the Van...

very nice trails, with some up hill walks and beautiful 300 year old oak trees thar are super hugh, spread out large limbs in all directions, including ground level. sign says please don't carve into trees, but much carving is visible.large seating bench under the shade of tree. fantastic walk by a river and water falls. bring lots of water. visitor center is awesome, with tons of relics and photos of history of area...
