Tourmaline Surf Park is a San Diego gem, blending surf history, scenic beauty, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Established in the 1960s, this spot was one of the first dedicated surf parks in California, created specifically for longboarders and mellow wave riders. It has remained a beloved local surf break ever since, known for its gentle, rolling waves and friendly lineup. The beach itself is beautiful and uncrowded, with plenty of rocky tide pools, soft sand, and stunning ocean views. Whether you’re here to surf, watch the waves, or just soak up the laid-back vibe, it’s a perfect escape from the busier San Diego beaches. The parking lot fills up quickly, but if you find a spot, it’s a great place to hang out, chat with friendly locals, and take in the sunset. For anyone looking to experience classic Southern California surf culture, Tourmaline is a must-visit. It’s not about high-performance surfing—it’s about the flow, the community, and the simple joy of being in the water. Whether you’re a longboarder, a beginner, or just someone who loves watching surfers glide along the waves, this place never disappoints!

Beautiful surf spot in North Pacific Beach. Tourmaline is a surfing-only beach, no swimming allowed. The gentle, slow-rolling waves are good for novice surfers, longboarders and seasoned surfers alike. Not so good for short boards but whatever works for ya. Great sunset spot as well! Leave only foot prints, take all of your trashes home. Let’s keep the beach clean!

Tourmaline, located in North Pacific Beach, is a stunning surf spot renowned for its beauty. It is important to note that Tourmaline is strictly for surfing, and swimming is not permitted. The waves at this beach are gentle and slow-rolling, making it an ideal destination for novice surfers, long boarders, and experienced surfers alike. While it may not be as suitable for short boards, surfers can find enjoyment in their preferred style. Additionally, Tourmaline serves as an excellent spot to witness breathtaking sunsets. As responsible beachgoers, let us remember to leave only footprints and ensure that we carry all our trash home, thereby contributing to the cleanliness and preservation of this...

Hard to give something with so much natural beauty only three stars but as far as what nature provides I would say it is definitely amazing but as far as what the city provides it leaves a lot to be desired. The parking lot and restroom facilities are extremely dated and run down and not at all well-maintained it's really too bad that in such a nice community the beach park is presented as such. With property values in that area being so high I'm honestly shocked the city is not able to put forth a cleaner more modern offering at such a...
