First time I ate here was in May 2015. Introduced to me by my sister who found this place with her son during his Ultimate Frisbee tournaments. This is one of their favorite places.
This is the second time I ate here, and I found it to be consistent. I swear it was the same lady behind the counter from the first time I was here about 2 years ago.
The place (Mexican Food) is located in Pacific Beach, a very thriving, energy filled area with lots of activities...(shopping, neighborhood restaurants, happy hour bars, shopping for stuff, Oh yes a couple franchise food places, if you really want to go there).... from the beach area, it's about a 3 minute walk to Taco Surf.
Love the inside decor, lots of surfboards hanging from the ceiling , the walls, and I'm surprised they didn't make the tables from surfboards, that would have been neat, very casual, it's what you expect from a beach side neighborhood.
Just walk right in the door 10 feet and turn and look left, there is the counter, above on the wall, the menu; you order what you want to eat from the lady behind the counter. At least 15 different combos.
Wait about 5 or 10 minutes, depending on how large your party is. They call your number, you come back to the counter and pickup your paper/Styrofoam plate of food, go back towards the front door you came in, and a bit to the left of the front door is your black plastic knives, forks, spoons and napkins, pick them up---go back to your table and start chowing down.
Here's the combo plates we ordered: Ceviche salad and Tamale, Snapper Taco, Beef and Chicken Enchilada, Carne Asada. For the 4 of us with drinks and tax. under $10.00 per person. Food was tasty, I liked my Carne Asada, (salty), my wife loves salt, she wants to go back and order that plate.
Food was very tasty. The tamales was opened and split open with sauce poured on it. A different way of it being served. My Friend from Denver said it had more meat then Denver tamales, and felt it was tastier than what he has eaten in Denver.
For super casual dining, and a quick place to grub, you'll enjoy Taco Surf. Will upload...
Read moreThe worst customer service I have ever experienced, working in customer service myself I would never in a million years treat a paying customer the way I was treated tonight. Me and my boyfriend had ordered through doordash for pickup, and noticed that the store PERSONALLY chose to opt out of special requests, if you're familiar with the message it displays on doordash, you'll know it says to contact the merchant directly for any special requests. If I could post screenshots, I would show I called in total of 11 TIMES and nobody picked up. Finally on the 12th time an extremely condescending man picks up and straight up refuses to remake it correctly due to their failure to pick up the business phone, even adds a rude comment "if you would have called earlier" even though i clearly did. So when i go to pick up my order not even 18 minutes later, the store is empty except for one other customer in the store. First thing I see is the male clerk eating with a woman sitting directly (bare skin) on the counter where food goes. Extremely unhygienic, and there was no greeting at all. There there was a long exchange and a few more times he denied making our food correctly while suggesting we were lying about it not allowing us on the app and even falsely and once again, condescendingly claimed there was "multiple times to not select no sour cream" which there was not, hence me needing to call 12 times. Rude cashier, absolute terrible customer service. Never coming here again and would not reccomend this place if you have self respect. I hope the owner is better than the service I experienced tonight and talks to his employees on how to properly and respectfully...
Read moreSurf Taco is straight-up a game-changer, no joke. The place slaps harder than a rogue wave on a windy day. Let's dive into the real MVPs of their menu: the tortilla soup and those killer tacos.
First off, the tortilla soup is legit the best I've ever had. It's like they figured out how to bottle up comfort and warmth, then poured it into a bowl. Every spoonful hits you with this spicy, hearty goodness that's just unmatched. It's the kind of soup that makes you forget about all the other soups out there.
Now, onto the main event: the tacos. The pork taco is a straight-up flavor bomb. It's like every bite is a mix of tender, juicy pork with just the right amount of kick and freshness from the toppings, all cradled in a tortilla that's doing everything right. It's the kind of taco you dream about after a night out.
The beef taco doesn't play second fiddle, either. It's got this rich, beefy goodness that's seasoned to perfection, with a little bit of everything in each bite. The beef is so good, it almost feels wrong to call it just a taco. It's like a tribute to all things awesome about tacos, wrapped up and ready to rock your world.
In short, Surf Taco isn't just good, it's insanely good. Whether it's the soul-hugging tortilla soup or the mind-blowing tacos, this place doesn't just serve food; it serves up experiences that'll keep you coming back for more. Trust me, your taste buds...
