We blew in on a Tuesday without a reservation around 645... Our Server was outstanding considering the entire place filled up about 5 mins after we arrived, and she had well over half the tables. They open up with a house flat water, bottle left at the table, we added a sparkling water to that and got a few recommendations from our server. We easily had the first 2 menu items picked out which were an appetizer of Tartare di Tonno all’Italiana which was a very nice raw ahi tuna with diced Italian olives, Sicilian capers, heirloom cherry tomatoes, and diced red onions marinated in a homemade citronette dressing. As it will every so often when not known how to properly cut ahi there was silver skin all throughout. It was unfortunate because the dish was great with amazing flavor and the tuna just made it burst but having to chew through and around the silver skin disappointed. We also decided on getting 2 pizzas instead of any foccace or charcuterie #1 Salsiccia, Mozzarella, Asiago e Porcini #2 Pizza Prosciutto Crudo e Burrata both done in their signature crust. The 1st pizza sausage and mushroom had fantastic flavors, we also grabbed some balsamic and oil for the crust, unfortunately the toppings just didn't want to stay on. Should I have used a fork? Ya probably. Did I want to use a fork? No, especially after the cigarette smoking male who's opinions on everything I could hear since we were dining outside relatively close to one another annoyed me along with his musty smell. We had them gas up the torch heater as it had gotten chilly, cig man didn't like that and kept hopping in his chair to move away from it. He also ordered a very questionable wine to go with their meal (again I'm not eavesdropping just sitting close) so I really didn't want to associate anything I did, including eating with a fork, with his style. The crust which had amazing flavor surprisingly had a tremendous amount of flop and as I said with a fork ok, I guess, picking it up was nightmarish. When it came to pizza #2 it was the same problem with flop and the toppings staying on. The burrata was excellent, prosciutto was great as well and very plentiful. Just wasn't really the flavors we should have went with and with all the burrata and prosciutto falling off even when completely folded made it more difficult. We got a box for that pie, took it back to the room, and it sat in the refrigerator untouched the rest of the time we were in Pacific Beach. Overall the ambience, outdoor seating, friendliness of staff (except for what I can only assume was a manager dressed in an awful red sweater and dark brown slacks, being very vocally rude to one of his male servers over a table that appeared to us as running very smoothly) and the smells were all 5 star. However the bad tuna, awesome thin flavorful crust that couldn't hold the sauce let alone toppings, and maybe we chose wrongly, even though the sausage and mushroom pizza toppings were really good, the 3 stars I gave it is basically all food oriented. The staff, ambience etc pulled that up as well since I feel 3 is being generous considering all the outstanding reviews the place gets. My wife and I have ate Milan "style" pizza all over the country considering its one of our favorites due to the quality of ingredients, cooking style, and outstanding thin crust that doesn't overfill you like a traditional American chain pizza joint would... Give it a try though, maybe we just missed, or maybe Mr. Cig man with his Reservations was given some extra time on his meal and thats why ours suffered since they...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ambrogio15 in Pacific Beach, and I was blown away by the entire experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the friendly and attentive staff. Our waiter, Gabriel, was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and took the time to recommend the perfect dishes for us. He also made sure that our glasses were always full and that we had everything we needed.
The food was absolutely amazing. We started with the Carpaccio Di Zucchine e Burrata, which was fresh and flavorful. The zucchini was thinly sliced and perfectly cooked, and the burrata was creamy and delicious. For our main course, we shared the Parmigiana and cinque formaggi pizza. Both pizzas were cooked to perfection and had the perfect balance of flavors. The Parmigiana was topped with eggplant, mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil, and the cinque formaggi was topped with five different cheeses. For dessert, we tried the homemade tiramisu and chocolate mousse. Both desserts were rich and decadent, and they were the perfect way to end our meal.
In addition to the great food, Ambrogio15 has a wonderful atmosphere. The restaurant is located in a converted parking lot, but it feels like a cozy and intimate space. The outdoor patio is perfect for a warm summer evening.
Overall, I had an incredible experience at Ambrogio15. The food, the service, and the atmosphere were all top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable meal.

Read moreWe were looking for a nice night out with great food for our last night in San Diego. We made a reservation for 2, showed up, and were seated outdoors. (We were not asked for preference of indoors/outdoors despite it being a chilly night that we clearly weren’t dressed for.) After nobody came to acknowledge our table for a while, we grew suspicious, but figured it was just a slow start. A server finally came to take our order, but it was only after he came back with our drinks and put in our order that he informed us that the pizza might be a bit slow because there was a wedding(!?) and another large party ahead of us. We felt that was pretty strange since at NO POINT when we made our reservation earlier that day, called on our way, or arrived at the restaurant to be seated was it mentioned that they were over capacity, but figured it was pizza - how long could it take? Well, we sat for 30 minutes after ordering without being checked on or acknowledged by our server. At that point, as I’m sure we were looking visibly annoyed, our server came over and gave us a free meat and cheese platter. I will admit this temporarily perked us up, but that shine faded fast when we found ourselves waiting another half hour for the pizza we ordered. Yes, that’s right - over an hour for pizza that probably stays in the oven for 5 minutes, as a generous calculation. The pizza was tasty, but far from the best I’ve had, and the wait was inexcusable. When we finally got the bill, we had very little apology for the horrendous service - just excuses about how their oven only allows for a small number of pizzas at a time. It was clear, however, that the server was more interested in trying to be friendly to us while we had the bill in hand than he had been for the rest of the night when we were generally ignored, as he seemed fearful his tip would be affected. I can’t help but feel like this establishment cares about little more than their bottom line, as the least they could have done was warn us in advance that they wouldn’t be able to provide us with efficient service so that we could decide for ourselves whether we wanted to wait, or go elsewhere - it’s not like they didn’t have multiple opportunities before putting in our order and serving our drinks. As it stands, I will return to San Diego for sure, but never to this...
