in my humble opinion I would avoid this place. I purchased a samsung S8 plus and had issue with the unit from the beginning. when I got the unit repaired it was great! they were polite and did the work quickly. At the end they stated that the manufacturer's warranty is in effect again, as it was repaired by them, sealed and presure tested as being repaired by an authorized repair center for samsung. That repair is what I consider to be sub par.
the Samsung website directly states that (Carrying an IP68 dust and water resistance rating. Based on test conditions of submersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes.) my phone was submerged no more the 10 seconds and no more than a 1 foot of water, soon after retrieving it the phone died. If they pressure tested, I wouldn't be having to deal with this issue.
Upon calling Ubreakifix about this issue they said they wouldn't cover it and that I need to just buy a new phone. after becoming pissed off and wondering what happened, I took a closer look at the phone and can see where the issue was. The repair was poorly done based off the pictures provided. there is a 2mm gap between the back of the phone and the main body were UbreakIfix repaired the phone. I checked all 4 sides and there is only 1 side with this issue. A 2mm gap is more than enough for water to get in, to give you an idea, my finger nail at the tip is 1mm thick. Long story short, I had to pay $200 for my insurance to cover the unit and get a new Phone in the midst losing a ton of data that's non retrievable. I will be sending the old phone back to the insurance co with less money in my pocket due to a very poor repair. If I didn't have Insurance this would have been a 1000$ mistake on their end as it is, i'm still out $200. Take my opinion for what you want, I would have seeked somewhere else if I was given the option.
Addendum to my review. I'm impressed that notes were taken about about my phone call. so I need to clarify. the original repair was for a cracked screen on the back of the phone, the repair had nothing to do with any water damage at all. the phone was only 77 days old so well with in the warranty time, so assuming the repair was correctly done I took a chance on the IP68 rating by standing on the side of the pool, reached my hand in the pool with the phone and took a picture of my son passing his swim test. most people would assume that its waterproof but I know IP68 ment a limited depth for a limited of time, not waterproof. with that being said a depth of less the 1 foot for a time of 5 to 7 sec, one would feel comfortable with the IP68 rating. as the rating is up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes, the caveat in this is that there was a small gap wear the glass back of the phone was replaced. thus being the likely culprit for the phone failure. In the end, Yes I took a chance knowing I was in the safe limits of the phone and I Paid dearly for that chance. In my decision of taking that chance, I wasnt counting on the phone not being up to par after a repair. There should have been no reason why the phone shouldn't have stood up to the conditions that I exposed them to. In the end regardless, I'm the one that took the chance and paid the price for everything, but that doesn't stop HOW I FEEL that the repair of the unit wasn't correctly done leading to the high probability that the leak originated from the repair site. I will contact insurance and ask them for the report of the damage to the phone, If I'm in the wrong, I will take down this post and admit it but it will stay up if it's the reason. To be honest I hate using this types of forums to deal with...
Read moreI have been coming here because they used to do a good job. Long story short. My daughter usually takes her phone to the shower and sings while showering. Never had an issue even after Iee fixed her other phone. It was still good to go for the shower. My daughter's screen cracked. She is 9 years old, and I told her that she could pay half and I would pay the other half. I wanted to teach her a lesson so she could be more mindful of how to take care of things. I came over 1 week ago to fix her phone, paid over $200 with a new screen protection. Yesterday, while she was in the shower, it stopped working. I came here to let them know what happened and spoke with Brian. I asked the manager because they wanted to charge another $200 to start. They didn't give me the managers name, nor did they let me talk to him to fix this issue and see what if they could do to solve this problem. ( bad business )The parts that they use were not original apple parts. Today I ask them, why didn't they offer the originals parts? He said: it's usually reserve for insurances. I said, what? So you are putting parts that are not original? And Brian said yes, because it's a lower price. I said: why didn't you offered the original part. And the excuse came around. Bottom line. Disappointment at this business; I couldn't talk to a Manger, they do not offer original apple parts, and they want you to pay again for a diagnostic. I will not recommend them due to the fact that they don't use originals parts as well as you can't talk to a manager when a problem occurs. Updating my review. BRIAN b the tech talk to corporate and he lie to them stating that he offer 2 screens when he never did. Brian B. Does no want to admit his mistake. Answer to the business: No you did not offer 3 options. Because for $10 more you can get a better quality screen. So why wouldn't you! The truth is you did not had the options and you only had one type of screen. You are a small business that works very hard? I came to the business talk to you nicely Brian asking for a solution. What matters in here is the principle that a better screen quality was never offered. While I was talking to corporate since you gave me their phone number to send me away. That is not good customer service (corporate gave me the understanding that you guys could have fix this issue) furthermore when you told corporate that you did mention the choices and that it was in the recording of audio and video. I told you to please review it. I got upset because of how dishonest Brian B is. Also I went to leave a review in their website but to my surprise. I can not do a review because they say the zip code of the store does not match the sales code. In short; their website does not let you put a honest bad review to better their business. Very disappointed at their business ethics. Ps: when I ask for the manager or owner they said it was owned by corporate. However the "owner" answer? Wow. Lies on...
Read moreI own a Galaxy note 8. 2 weeks ago I cracked the corner of my phone screen. I was at the cusp of pre-ordering the note 9 when It was brought to my attention that I had Asurion insurance through Verizon. As I finished filing my claim, I was offered the option to come to this location. Before deciding, i chose to ask a few questions regarding this store's process. I called the store two minutes until closing. A man named Devon greeted me and answered every question I could throw at him all while keeping me from feeling rushed (I kept him 5 minutes past closing). By the end of our conversation, I was confident that I could trust them with my repair. Here's how the process went: I finished filing the claim through Asurion. Contacted Devon to ensure that the claim went through and scheduled a good drop off time. Dropped off the phone the next day at 10:20am. Went out to bowl 6 games to buy some time. Returned at 12:30 to find my phone waiting to be picked up.
The process went incredibly smoothly. So smoothly that I don't think I'll ever need to purchase another phone case again. I also want to note that all of their Note 8 screen repairs come with much more than just the screen. Although my phone only suffered from screen damage, they replaced the entire screen, chassis, and battery with OEM Parts. The phone came back looking and feeling like I had just taken it out of it's box for the first time.
Also, I had asked Devon about the retention of my phone's IP rating and assured me that because they are certified by Samsung, the phone will not only remain Waterproof, but the warranty will...
