Really disappointing experience all around. I went to Timberline today for the first time to teach my gf how to ski and it will probably be the first and last time I go. I went up to get a lift ticket at the window around 11am and asked about the pricing while explaining it was my first time there. I was told to get the afternoon adult pass for the mountain so that's what we did. When I asked one of the lift attendants where we should go for easier slopes they recommended the summit area. So we spent did a few runs there and were told by one of the employees that our ticket was for the whole mountain so we could've just gotten a summit ticket for cheaper. I took the shuttle back to the ticket desk after literally one our to explain the situation and ask if they'd refund us the difference (36$ x2) between the two tickets and was met with a "you should've read the sign". All you really expect is for people to try and understand the situation and work with you to find a fair solution. It's pretty frustrating feeling taken advantage of. Think twice before you go to a mountain that's not willing to provide...

This is one of our favorite ski resorts to visit. Some of the things we love about Timberline skiing: Lots of terrain parks! They have S/M/L features to accommodate every level. My kids love that they don't have to be a pro to try a box or a jump. Lots of blue runs. This was really important to us when the kids were little, as the vast majority of the mountain was accessible to them even as beginners. AMAZING views! And if you can't see the amazing views, chances are you are being treated to some amazing snow. The people are friendly here: not just the employees, but the skiers/boarders, too. Some places have a real elitist vibe, but we've been coming here for four years and it's been nothing but friendly and welcoming. They are part of the Powder Alliance, so if your local resort is also a member, you might be able to get free ski passes. You can park at the bottom and catch a free shuttle up the hill. Then, at the end of the day, you get to do a long 3-mile run back to your vehicle. It's a great way to end the day without the stress of dealing...

Ah the legendary Timberline. As seen in the classic horror film The Shining. I've lived within a couple hours and have wanted to check it out for a couple of years. Well I finally made it and as you can see by my stars I was a bit disappointed.

Picture this. 15+ inches of powder. On Mount Hood. What more could you ask for, right?

I'll tell you. A different resort lol.

The snow was great. However the terrain at this resort leaves much to be desired. I was utterly dismayed at how flat timberline resort is. There was so much untracked powder, completely untouched because it was too flat to ski. I'm no expert. But I've had quite a few powder days. And this was a first for me. I've climbed Hood 3 times, and of course the climb is steep. Timberline resort however is flat.

Unfortunately I can not recommend this resort. Maybe on a blue groomer day it would be ok. But who really wants that? And at the price I expected much much more. Other close by ski areas provide a much...

Like me, you might be wondering if you should just continue on your way or take a little side trip. Do it! Even if the extra mileage up to the lodge causes you hesitation, let me tell you it is worth the visit. So much history and unforgettable craftsmanship! I loved the doorway and I watched even short people duck down to get into the quaint little bar to the right of the main entrance. I watched people play ping-pong. I used the shuffleboard – best slides ever! -and lounged in a few of the interesting chairs; some made from rawhide. What a gem! And oh yes, it is a ski resort so I must mention watching people coming down on the narrow bands of snow/slush for a summer ski and board adventure was an added delight!
