Honestly this place is phenomenal. People can bring their dogs on walks up there and everyone is so friendly. Great place to play fetch with your dogs as long as they are socially trained and get along with other dogs. Most dogs are unleashed. I ended up getting a reservation down at Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach and it wouldn’t be another hour before we were seated and we decided to take the small hike up to the preserve. It has beautiful views of the beach and a great place to picnic as well if you were so inclined to do so. You can even see the restaurant from atop the preserve. It’s a great way to the build an appetite. I recommend heading up there if you have to wait for your reservation to kick in. It’s a great experience...
Read moreWhat an incredible place. A huge preserve of land on a bluff overlooking the beautiful Pacific and the Channel Islands. The place is dog friendly. Due to the drought it is a bit dusty, however that will all green up when the rains come, soon I hope. The views off the cliff are jaw dropping spectacular and unbelievable all at once. I love looking down from the cliff and seeing the turquoise green water with great clarity. Now there are ways to get down to the beach but I didn't investigate those I had a short time, and just got to hang on the cliff, which is mesmerizing for me. I guess I could have been there a long time and never known it. I'll be back to find this one again and just roll in the luscious view . A real...
Read moreDefinitely my favorite park for walking my dog AND sometimes I can see dolphins from the cliffs :) This is not a hike, but more a "promenade" with many flat paths possible. If you do the whole perserve it's a great walk. Especially with all the trees that protect your dog and children from too much sun. You will find a bowl of water for dogs on the way to the ocean view. The view is stunning! Perfect for sunset. It can be windy, depending on the day. There are no public restrooms. Take your trash back, please. There are many free parking spaces on the street. You can also come from the beach parking (free) and use the path that goes up to the douglas perserve. I recommend...
