Honestly this place is phenomenal. People can bring their dogs on walks up there and everyone is so friendly. Great place to play fetch with your dogs as long as they are socially trained and get along with other dogs. Most dogs are unleashed. I ended up getting a reservation down at Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach and it wouldn’t be another hour before we were seated and we decided to take the small hike up to the preserve. It has beautiful views of the beach and a great place to picnic as well if you were so inclined to do so. You can even see the restaurant from atop the preserve. It’s a great way to the build an appetite. I recommend heading up there if you have to wait for your reservation to kick in. It’s a great experience being there.

Definitely my favorite park for walking my dog AND sometimes I can see dolphins from the cliffs :) This is not a hike, but more a "promenade" with many flat paths possible. If you do the whole perserve it's a great walk. Especially with all the trees that protect your dog and children from too much sun. You will find a bowl of water for dogs on the way to the ocean view. The view is stunning! Perfect for sunset. It can be windy, depending on the day. There are no public restrooms. Take your trash back, please. There are many free parking spaces on the street. You can also come from the beach parking (free) and use the path that goes up to the douglas perserve. I recommend it for sure 👌

The 70 acre Douglas Family Reserve is located on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It has several large easy walking trails suitable for walking, running and bicycling. There are stunning views of the ocean, Channel Islands, the Santa Ynez Mountains, and Henry’s Beach. During the whale migration season it is possible to spot migrating whales along the bluff. This is a great place to walk, enjoy bird watching, and bike or simply relax and take in the scenery or enjoy a sunset. This is one of the few Santa Barbara Park that allow dogs to be off leash. Highly recommend this Park for everyone especially dog owners.

Beautiful spot, with amazing views. I'd budget 45 min to an hour to explore. There are a set of stairs about 400 yards to the south of the main entrance that gets you to the beach. Tides often pretty high, so it can be a bit of a scramble along the beach. Parking can be found in the residential neighborhoods that surround the park and is free. Also a favorite place of dog walkers, so lots of our 4 legged friends.

Stunning place to relax with a little bit of shade offered by the many large trees along an easy and wide dirt path. Was able to find a nice secluded corner and sat on a fallen tree branch in a corner next to the shoreline which was a great place to stretch my feet, eat some food, take in the beautiful coastline spotting surfers and the ocean currents underneath while feeling the ocean breeze.

My dog loved being able to explore off leash. We passed many other well behaved off leash dogs. I was happy there were shaded trails. We visited twice while on vacation. I preferred the morning walk as the sun wasn't as strong. I recommend sneakers/good walking shoes. The only thing I felt was missing were some benches as we were there for a couple hours.
