Love this dog friendly beach! Lots of steps to walk down, but well worth it. 'Bio' bags are provided for your convenience, making an impromptu visit with your dog an option. The people that were there with their pets had them well under control so everyone could have fun and enjoy this beach. It rests at the foot of a cliff, so a little rocky at the base, but flat and easy to walk, jog, or swim. And located in a little bay, so pretty. Parking can be tricky; street parking is on small streets and limited. You can access this beach from the Arroyo Burro beach, but remember, they have an enforced time limit for their parking.

Mesa Lane Steps are a wonderful way to walk down to the beach. There is exactly 242 steps one way (counted going up the steps), for a round-trip total of 484 steps. The steps have several "landings" where you are able to rest for a bit if needed and/or let others pass. The steps are wooden and the last flight at the bottom are made of metal grate. The steps are dog friendly, but your did might be a bit scared to walk on the metal grate at the bottom.

I liked the experience overall. The steps are nice and provide some really nice views of the ocean from the top. I happened to watch quite a few surfers in the morning and it was quite fun. It has a lot of natural beauty on both sides of the steps so the walk down to the beach is also enjoyable. Parking was easy on a Sunday morning. There is free street parking available right at the entrance of the steps.
