Rocky Nook Park — Attraction in Santa Barbara

A beautiful park for kids, parents, picnics, BBQs, hiking, biking, walking the dogs or for seeking peace and quiet away from the city. Some people say the homeless there are a problem, however, my family, friends, & I have never had any problems in the many years we've been going there & have personally witnessed the people without homes taking better care of the park than the visitors who have homes. Santa Barbara has become far too hostile towards people without homes & as lifelong locals, we don't appreciate that attitude of hostility. I love this park it's kind of hidden in Mission Canyon. There are picnic tables, BBQ pits, bathrooms are handicapped accessable and clean. There is a running creek, trails to hike, lots of old trees that provide shade. It has a playground. You can watch the squirrels climb the trees and if you look up at the sky you might see a Red Tail Hawk or a Peregrine Falcon flying by with a mob of crows chasing both of them!!

Lovely park, with a clean public restroom, plenty of tables for eating outdoors, and a decent sized kids play area. Note that it is MUCH smaller than it appears in the photos - and is suitable for a picnic, but it is very small and not big enough for a hike. There is also NO water in the rocky "river bed" - just standing algae. So, there are no rapidly flowing streams as in the photos, at least during August.
