A beautiful park for kids, parents, picnics, BBQs, hiking, biking, walking the dogs or for seeking peace and quiet away from the city. Some people say the homeless there are a problem, however, my family, friends, & I have never had any problems in the many years we've been going there & have personally witnessed the people without homes taking better care of the park than the visitors who have homes. Santa Barbara has become far too hostile towards people without homes & as lifelong locals, we don't appreciate that attitude of hostility. Read moreI love this park it's kind of hidden in Mission Canyon. There are picnic tables, BBQ pits, bathrooms are handicapped accessable and clean. There is a running creek, trails to hike, lots of old trees that provide shade. It has a playground. You can watch the squirrels climb the trees and if you look up at the sky you might see a Red Tail Hawk or a Peregrine Falcon flying by with a mob of crows chasing both of them!!

Note that it is MUCH smaller than it appears in the photos - and is suitable for a picnic, but it is very small and not big enough for a hike. There is also NO water in the rocky "river bed" - just standing algae. So, there are no rapidly flowing streams as in the photos, at least during August.
