All I can say is top-notch. We have had several issues with this boat since the day we bought it since it's powered by Volvo pentas and I finally gave up and bit the bullet and came up to Northern New Jersey to get the work done with everything I've heard about Lockwood. They have been nothing but courteous and professional and the best part of all is they don't do any work until they tell you what they are doing unlike some places that are Volvo certified in the Brielle area. Owner told me multiple times that they are going to do a compression test check the plugs and the minor stuff first before the boats is winterized for the winter and that's all they've done. On top of telling me first what they're going to do and explaining what they're going to do they are setting up an estimate as well for the major repairs that have to get done come the spring. I've been to way too many places where I tell them the situation or what I want done and they just do it and then send the bill in the mail without any follow-up or any input on what they're doing or what they think they should do other than what I've said to do. For all those saying that they're overpriced or whatever on those negative reviews that I've seen a couple months ago to a year ago guys please do me a favor and sell your boat because obviously you have no idea what the cost or amount of money it takes to keep one in the family or keep one up to standard. You want to keep your boat going you want a good mechanic you want a trustworthy mechanic you want someone who's going to do the work the right way and on top of that like I said tell you what's wrong with the boat and get your permission to do the work which is the most important thing then you got to pay for the price that's it plain and simple. They've got me now as a customer for as long as i have this boat I am extremely grateful of all the work that they've done so far with being a new customer and I can only tell anyone else reading this if you want to go somewhere that I feel is trustworthy enough then this...
Read moreYes they have a nice facility and all the parts you need. But By all means do not bring your boat here to get serviced , as they are overpriced do it yourself parts replacers. Not qualified mechanics. Lol qualified mechanics i told you guys what the problem was. You charged me $1500 to put my boat in the water and take it for a test drive and then wanted $5000 for exhaust manifolds. Got a set of manifolds from sierra marine for $500 and in 45 minutes boat was running. Oh and I forgot to mention these guys are a bunch of alcoholics. When I dropped the boat off I went into the garage to ask where they wanted me to park it. Bunch of guys sitting around drinking couldn’t be bothered to answer me. Then when picking boat up they refused taking a credit card for the test drive only cash. Because they were afraid I would cancel payment .I called the cops because they wouldn’t release my boat and when I did the Lockwood brothers showed up hammered drunk. I even ask the cop if he’s gonna let these guys drive home. While waiting outside the parts guy was leaving for the day and he told me this happens all the time and I was right these guys aren’t good mechanics. Oh and by the way I am a L1 L3 ASE Master technician with 20 years...
Read moreBill Lockwood and Lockwood boat works are the worst people to have you do your work. They will charge you massive amounts of $$ and pay you must if you want to get your boat back, even though they went over estimate which is usually the case with them.
I had my sailboat there years ago. After numerous difficulties I went with my wife and two kids to pick up the boat and bring it to Atlantic Highlands.
When I started the engine I noticed the cooling water wasn't coming out of the exhaust port. I checked the engine and the water strainer cap and gasket were missing. I found them in the bilge. I did not authorize them to do anything to the engine so I had to assume that they did it in retaliation to the difficulties that we had. Good thing I found the cap and had the engine running because that could have caused a disaster especially in narrow Morgan Creek by the railroad bridge.
Really mean and greedy...
