First time there great food and I'm the pickiest person well I'm adding to this review I went back cuz the breakfast I had was great sadly to say I went back with a party of 12 on the 30th the food was too salty the meat was too fatty two dinners weren't even put in after everyone receive their dinners and top it off the tables were so wobbly we had to fold napkins to put under the table legs instead of putting tables together they separated us with two tables side by side we lived with that because we were the only ones in the place they were courteous but the cook needs to learn how to plate food it was sloppy good serving size if they take the time to taste their food before they put it out it would be great I'm a pretty good cook almost a chef and I was very disappointed the meatloaf platter didn't look like meatloaf it look like Salisbury steaks you don't put the meatloaf on the plate separate pieces you layer it and pour the gravy and mushrooms over it if you ever need help and advice contact me I'll be glad to go in the kitchen and help you out I have over 47 years experience I don't recommend it for dinner breakfast was okay I'll still keep my five stars for the breakfast and give dinner only two stars oh and also check your vegetables the corn smell rotten or sour but serious you have a problem you need to fix it you need to check your temperature of your food you need to fix your tables you need to get a decent cookI will not recommend you guys anymore I was embarrassed cuz I brag about how good your breakfast was and it was a last-minute thing cuz it was close by took my wife for birthday dinner with some...
Read moreMy fiancé and I just left the South Side 35 Diner, and unfortunately, our experience was far from great. Our waitress, Theresa, was warm and pleasant with her other tables but noticeably cold and unengaged with us, despite us always being polite and kind.
The real issue began when I found a piece of melted plastic in my biscuits and gravy. I even swallowed some before pulling the rest out of my mouth. When I informed the waitress, her reaction was indifferent. I asked if I could get a replacement meal to go, and she walked away without acknowledging me. While waiting for my replacement meal, my drink sat empty, and I still felt like I had plastic in my throat.
As we looked around the diner, we noticed how unhygienic it was. There were flies everywhere—I counted at least 14 while we waited. A manager never came by to check on us, apologize, or ensure everything was resolved, which, as a former restaurant manager, I know is standard practice for handling situations like this.
When the waitress finally returned with the check, she casually said the plastic was probably from the eggs. I told her it was definitely plastic because it was still stuck in my throat, but she walked away without a word.
When we went to pay, I brought up the situation with the manager, who offered to remove the meal from the bill. While I appreciated that gesture, the overall experience left us very disappointed. Between the lack of care, poor service, and unhygienic environment, this visit was incredibly...
Read moreI visited the South Side 35 Diner early afternoon this Tuesday(10/28) at 1 pm. It was easy to find a parking space in the parking lot that was quite close to the entrance of the diner. Upon entering I only had to wait momentarily before the hostess led us to an available table. The diner had many types of seating ranging from bar seats, booths, and tables. It was almost full when I entered, but had cleared out a little by the time I left. The hostess gave us our menus and we were promptly greeted by a server who politely greeted himself. The diner was clean and the ambiance of the diner was inviting with bright open space. I ordered a latte with almond milk which was the only dairy option and a freshly squeezed orange juice. There were three menus presented which made it a bit overwhelming to choose the options, but of the three one was specifically seasonal. Looking at the menus kept me preoccupied until the server came back with the drinks around 5 minutes later. The latte wasn’t overly sweet and wasn’t too strong either. The orange juice was very delicious with orange pulp in it which I recommend. The food ordered was a “South side omelette” and steak with veggies which took around 20 minutes to come out. The food was quite pleasant though it lacked a bit of seasoning, so I added some salt to it. Overall, the cost came out to around $70 plus a 20% tip. The diner was a pleasant way to relax and enjoy...
