Former logging plantation preserved with various unpaved trails, surrounded by lush vegetation in all sides. Boardwalks lead through marshy areas that are a joyful spot for birders, while the majority of the forest thrives with an abundance of chipmunks and squirrels. Fields of goldenrod in the late summer and early fall are a particularly scenic view. Placards throughout the trail network detail the history of the land, its use and the fascinating process of preserving its crucial ecosystems. Trails can be icy in the winter and muddy at various times throughout the year; paths may also narrow with vegetation overgrowth or wet conditions. Not recommended for wheelchairs or strollers that are not meant for offroad use; even then, trail width may be an issue in some areas. No railing on boardwalks over marshes. Pet friendly, but not a place for the reactive or skittish animal due to the narrow trail. Please clean up after your pet (trash cans at trail heads) and keep them leashed.

Saginaw Forest Trail Head offers a delightful hiking experience with well-maintained trails. The ample parking makes access convenient for visitors. The trail meanders through lush forest areas, providing a peaceful retreat from urban life. A highlight of the trail is the cool, serene lake, perfect for a relaxing break. Wildlife sightings are common, adding to the natural charm. The trail is well-marked and suitable for hikers of all levels. Whether you’re out for a casual stroll or a vigorous hike, Saginaw Forest Trail Head delivers. Highly recommended for nature enthusiasts and families alike.

I have been here to walk/hike the past few years. It is very pretty. They have done some trail maintenance, which has improved them a lot. The pond is very pretty. I am glad it's open to people. It's not far from my home, so I don't have to travel far. Sorry that there is so much noise on the west side from new home construction, but it's a nice spot in Ann Arbor to walk in the woods.

Very pretty nature trail! There are lots of mosquitos around the lake, so wear bug spray. The path was not maintained as well as I would hope. There were a lot of down trees and stumps in the path which made hiking with small children and a wagon very hard. If my kids we just a bit older (say over 4) I think it would be a better trail for them. It’s pet friendly as well so it’s a great place to walk your dogs! I recommend this trail if you’re interested in a nice hike with your family or dog, just make sure you don’t bring a wagon or stroller, it won’t make it...
