Our toddler (and now we) refer to this as the 'dumptruck playground' because the large sand pit is populated by various toy trucks that denizens have generously left there for others. (Stop by a Goodwill, grab 2 or 3 for $7 and try it - you'll feel better than $7 can buy =)! Also, trucks do slowly find other homes...or their demise... )
There is an excellent playground (with a zip line! 2.5 year old had so much fun he rode it by himself! Once ; ). The communal feel is tangible - everyone interacts easily, children unite us all, sharing is the local ethos. Covered tables, bits of shade (small, but there), and a large field and track on the upper area by the reservoir, and a baseball diamond on the lower field (also with a steep little grassy hill for practicing downhill running fairly safely, or log rolling if not) legendary place, you'll likely find it is near your friends and and easy place to meet-up for play dates on...
Read moreThe north Seattle power sub station is located here.. there is a cool area which is accessible to the public which has been decorated with chimes, etc that is connected to the facility which lines within the park.. It's Always clean & well kept..There are always cute dogs running around in the pet area & lots of couples with their kids..a local Jewish school brings their class here to play, so I'd say based on that it's probably a pretty safe place to visit..Plus the awesome playground for the kids & pristine grass for your hound🐶🐕🐩..there is usually plenty of street parking but during the summer you might have to park a couple blocks away..it's a beautiful spot to workout at or just relax with...
Read moreIt's a great place to go to take a walk and run your dogs and / or kids. It seemed like it took years for the maple leaf community to get the old reservoir by covering it with dirt and grass to create this wonderful park. Back in the day, this area was an open water reservoir that was fenced off, and the community was told to stay out. Over the years, they covered the water and made this a lovely area to enjoy te city life. The water towers are still there. Now they have wonderful pickle ball courts and awesome views of downtown Seattle, Bellevue, and Mt Rainer!! It's a great place to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July.
