I have never experienced such wreckless care in my life. I took my elderly grandfather in and was seen by Dr.Olmsted a supposed ER doctor. We thought he was having multiple strokes back to back because his face looked like it had melted on one side. He literally argued with me when I asked to have him be sent to MU. They did CT and MRI and all came back negative for stroke. Had him seen by nuro over a 3min video call to be told we were crazy and he was faking it because he had dementia. (For the record he does not have dementia) these episodes came and went 3X in front of the nurses and Doctors. After the consult with video nuro Dr. O said it didn't make sense and disagreed with nuro diagnosis and came in to tell us so but said he wouldn't send him to any other hospital because he didn't know what was going on but he thought they were TIA episodes and to go home he was fine. Then said if it was his dad he wouldn't come back to the ER until it got worse for longer. There was no further tests. He refused to send my pop to a facility after multiple requests to a doctor with neurology in house. My pop is a VA patient and even the VA suggested he go to MU AND HE REFUSES! They said they needed the bed for real emergency patients. Then proceeded to tell me if I wanted to take him to MU I could myself but he wasn't wasting his time until a true stroke happened. I was LIVID. These types of interactions with constantly repeating himself happened three times with the PA next to him. Making us feel bombarded and bullied. Dr. O would leave his PA to deal with it and the PA was no better. She was very forceful asking my sick pop what other hospital he wanted to go to because she wasn't going to call hospitals a day. When we gave a list she left then they both returned and refused to call other places because they needed the bed and other people didn't need to waste their time with him. When I explained that the VA wanted him sent in he said he didn't care because he was the ER doctor not them and will do what they deem fit. So I was Fed up and said to get him unhooked immediately and we will be leaving. I said I was done with the conversation and we were leaving and refusing any other guidance from them and requested not to be approached by them again. So we left and within an hour my pop had another one. I drove over an hour to take him to the VA because after speaking to VA they said they could get him seen in MU by nuro as soon as we arrived. We got there and found out after a consult with a nuro in person that he was have multiple SEIZURES following with TODDS paralysis and that TIA behavior like that does not happen over and over in the same day with it affecting the same side of the face in the same area over and over. Saying any ER doctor should recognize this and should have sent him immediately to a hospital with in home nuro to evaluate him. Then thanked me for being thorough and advocating for him because this was something serious and could have had a much different outcome by morning. After a bunch of seizure medicine and a plan for more testing and an established care plan we came home the next morning. Thank God I listen to my instincts because if he would have went home having seizures not being treated it could have gotten to the point of killing him. He is struggling mentally and emotionally over the whole ordeal but MU helped us with nuro emergency care one phone call away. Thank God he is still alive. I will never be going back to Bothwell after this. I wanted to write this review to warn people about the care there and to keep being an advocate for your loved ones. If you can safely get your family to a different hospital please do. If you think something is wrong ALWAYS GET A...
Ā Ā Ā Read morei have an abscess. i,
[even after the horrible "visit" we had to endure 2 weeks ago, when bf checked in at 3pm..we watched the waiting room empty out completely except for us..and then watched them start calling "new" patients while we were still left sitting there..we were told that they were "so sorry, it was just really busy"..dr on that visit said she was just going to have an xray ordered so that we could finally go home..after the nurse checked the second time and found out that no one had shown up yet to take him (at this time, it was over an hour since dr said it was ordered), the nurse said "I'll just take him myself to make sure he gets there"..when ALL of that was finally done, then [because all the pharmacies were now Long past closing time, we asked for the prescriptions could be transferred to the 1/2 the distance away from home so I didn't have to drive 2 hrs round trip to get them the next day when the pharmacy re-opened..after this was argued about, they finally gave in and actually sent them.]
quite unfortunately, taking the chance that the last visit was an "accident", went there yesterday to just get an antibiotic. YEAH. after it took Over 3 hours to get called back for the initial examination, the dr passing by the room saw what i looked like, stopped and waited to tell me he was ordering the antibiotic now to get it started, and would be back to finish the exam..
I thought at this time, when I was told I could check out, I was finally going to get to go home [crying for over 2 hours in waiting room because Tylenol only lasted 2 hours; used up the first hour to drive there]. NOT EXACTLY.
When I got to the pharmacy [this time it was Not 1:30am like 2 weeks ago].., I gave her the discharge papers, showing the date and time of what was prescribed..and that's when my fun started..she said that what i handed her was not a "real prescription", and the pharmacist would not fill "without a real prescription".. the clerk actually did call the hospital, and put the pharmacist on.. i got to listen to her side..her ending comment was "if there isn't a real prescription you will send, I'M not filling the Rx" [I had no idea just how bad this was going to get, yet..] wow. I next asked the clerk "So now I have to go Back to the hospital to get the 'real rx' to bring back here?" She said yes. I went back to the hospital. the hospital said that the pharmacy was now closed [o.m.g., Seriously?!!!], but they certainly would send it to the 1/2-the-distance-away-from-home-pharmacy.. know what the close pharmacy told me this morning? they could see where it was sent to the far pharmacy last night, but THE Hospital lied to me, and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI personally hate having to leave bad reviews, but I thought long to add my experience. Only because in the hopes someone from the higher ups would see this and make a BIG change.
Thereās a reason why they have only 2 stars.
My birth experience was horrible, and because of it I will never come here again until something changes. As well as tell other pregnant moms to not give birth here or even check up.
I was pregnant in 2023, with a healthy baby boy. Born December 2023. Thank God he is still healthy, and we are very happy to have our son.
I came in 2cm positive for strep. For āsafety reasonsā they told me to come in as soon as I was in labor. 1st red flag. Other country donāt even check for GBS strep(itās nothing serious) which being positive, youād think theyād recommend me to change my diet, add in certain foods. No just more antibiotics which are TERRIBLE for babyās development. I labored for 40 HOURS! EARLY LABOR!!!! In this horrible environment of nurses and doctors nagging me about how Iām not progressing. Which another thing, they had ācheckedā that my water broke, confirmed it, and to my surprised it never broke. Which means they were pushing Pitocin; horrible side effects for mom and baby BTW. Of course instilling fear that baby can die or be still born because a lack of amniotic fluid; which my water wasnāt even broken and was in early labor. Out of how horrible the pain was of pitocin, I took the epidural being 6cm. Anesthesiologist came in 30 minutes later with a horrible attitude, asking why Iām taking epidural being 6cm(active labor; usually you progress much faster in active labor) contractions stopped and so I had no other choice than to do c-sections. This is where the doctor FINALLY checked my cervix and to his surprise. āHer water isnāt even brokenā (mind that if your water is broken your labor speeds up really fast)
I will say my recovery with a few nurses were amazing. Especially the older ladies. So sweet and kind.
Then once I was checking out like 3 days later; tell me why the doctor prescribes me fentanyl when all Iām taking in the hospital is Tylenol šš¼āāļø Itās a money grab hospital. And thereāS MANY more stories Iāve heard of moms with bad birth experiences, similar to mine. Please if you are an expecting mother and want a good birth, go to Warrensburg. They care more about moms. With my second baby on the way, Iāve hired a mid-wife and my experience is crazy different. So much love and care with precautions of course, but still educating me about everything!! Ig @olyajmelnik Iām open to hearing other experiences. We need...
