An unexpectedly lovely hike. Did not think we would be amidst such beautiful fall colors creekside on hikes through a desert. We decided to pay $12 to park our car rather than $5 per person for a park day pass to get to Cathedral Rock. That being said it wasn't exactly easy trying to get over there! The walk itself was great, over red rocks and through the forest and along the creek. but we were on the "wrong" side of the river. A local told us it was ankle / calf deep so we took off our shoes and entered the FRIGID water. We were about halfway across the narrowish river before we realized that the water would go as high as our thighs! That being said even though I felt like I was going to die I enjoyed the rest of my hike up to where we got great views of cathedral rock.

Think you love this sight! It's $12 a car if 5 people buuuuuut don't let that detour you. It's a park, with paved walkways, lots of field, 2 bathroom sights, and historic buildings from the Sanchez pioneer family. Then there's a swim hole in the stream that you can walk through or swim in, along with dirt walking paths along side the stream and another up to an amazing view; basically on top of a plateau. The view is of the cathedral mountain, which is breathtaking all on its own. Perfect for the family. Little of everything here

A Great spot to take the family for creek time fun and less crowded then Slide Rock. The small admission price is well worth it. In the parking lot areas you’ll find picnic tables, scattered benches, restrooms, and drinking fountains. Along the creek you can find many different access points to dip your toes in. You can even walk to Buddha beach at the base of Cathedral Rock by following the creek up. My #1 piece of advice is to bring water shoes!!!

We had been on the creek since the early morning and entered another side. Not even intending to go or use anything at this location. We only walked with an elderly couple because the lady sprained her foot. As we headed back we where approached by a women who has her RV parked there. Asking if we paid. We informed her we didn't come in thru here, nor did we have any intention of using anything at that location. We just helped a women and her husband make it back safe. She called someone on her walkie talkie. This childish guy comes over in a golf cart with such a hostile attitude. We where more then happy to go back down the river up where we came from. All of us have backpacked Mt. Rainier, Mt.Whitney, many strenuous mountains around AZ, and around the country. Our car was 5 min away walking. 30 min away down the river and up the trail. When we tried to explain what happened. AND EVEN AGREED TO GO BACK THE WAY WE CAME. we where still treated so rudely and with such hostility. The man who's wife got injured even came to explain the situation. Instead of asking about the lady and her injury, the kid/guy in the golf cart still was rude. . The only thing good at this location is if you are not a hiker, taking family or young children it's easy way to be by the water with a...
