Full-sun trail and hardly any shade. We chose this trail as our first hike because we had woken up early to catch our flight and had just driven 2 hours from Phoenix and we saw that this was rated “easy” and fairly short. Our round trip showed up as 3.5 miles on our watches. We stopped at the end of the teacup trail and found some shade to have some snacks. We were hoping to take the loop back, but the path was obscure and we had a hard time staying on it so we ended up coming back on the original trail. The views were so so when comparing with other trails in Sedona, but it’s not a busy trail which means parking is easy to find (no pass required). We probably won’t end up repeating this trail in the future unless we didn’t have anything else planned and wanted a short and easy...

The hike itself was beautiful, as are most hikes around Sedona. It was relatively easy (no scrabbling or scary cliffs to climb around)
There were a few places where it seemed like the trail wasn't clearly marked, and we eventually turned around because we found that if we continued, we'd just be getting towards soldier's pass, seven sacred pools, and a sinkhole, and for that I'd rather just park at a different trailhead.
