Shaler North Hills Library — Attraction in Shaler Township

The "SHALER NORTH HILLS LIBRARY" is 1 of the BEST Library Systems around. It ACTUALLY puts the "CARNEGIE LIBRARY" in PITTSBURGH to SHAME! My Kids Grew Up going to SHALER'S Library, using it to CHECK-OUT books that they NEEDED for HOMEWORK, ESSAYS, BIO'S on FAMOUS MILITARY HEROES, PRESIDENTS & HISTORICAL FIGURES & MOMENTS like Pearl Harbor, The DROPPING of the A-BOMBS on JAPAN! My Wife & i use the LIBRARY a lot along w/ OUR OLDEST DAUGHTER, HER HUSBAND & OUR GRANDKIDS! The GRANDKIDS love READING BOOKS! Our GRANDDAUGHTER AVA'S reading the J.K ROWLING "HARRY POTTER" Books! I have recently rediscovered my local library and it is wonderful! The shaler north hills library has a great selection, and they also can pull from any of the libraries in the Carnegie library system. They have an app that makes requesting books and looking up availability super easy. The app also has a digital copy of my library card (and any family members cards too!) which is really convenient. Today I was talking to a librarian for book recommendations, and she was so kind and gave me great mystery recommendations based on previous books I’ve read. She also introduced me to hoopla, which is an app where you can borrow digital media. I’ve been looking for a place to listen to audiobooks for free and now I have hoopla! This is my absolute favorite library. It really is a beautiful community. The staff are all wonderful and the sheer amount of (free!) events happening every single day for kids and adults alike is astounding. This is a place where everyone really cares about you. The selection of books is great, there are public access computers, there's plenty of cozy places to sit, the building is beautiful and holds many old secrets, there is a HUGE play area for children, and the general decor and feeling of home is wonderful.
