Shelby Township Library — Attraction in Shelby Charter Township

The library has reopened, after the Christmas fiasco. I am lucky that I can just walk over to the library, although I did walk 3/4 miles to the old library. The new library is fantastic and I have talked to Katie the library director a number of times and she is very helpful and friendly. I find all the staff to be friendly, helpful and informative. What a great place, love how it has a children's area, YA area with a room for them and their laptops, a reading area (newspapers and magazines) and shelves of books (large print also). I am glad their back.

Since I did my original post, I have joined Friends of the Shelby Library. The library has a number of events for adults, teens and young children through out the months. Such as at the Shelby Summer Fest, there was a live possum ( from Shadbush Nature Center) and from Reptilum there were reptiles that we were able to pet. Nice library. Small parking lot. Locate in a municipal complex. Nice study rooms. Staff is condescending often annoying. It appears they treat minorities with indifference at several locations including this one.Today I go to the bathroom and I have two white guys standing facing the women's bathroom the men's is directly behind them. The tall one is walking around pretending he is looking at magazines. The other one is facing the door. It's an automatic handicap door that remains open for a minute or two and yes you can see in when it's open. These two are talking can you see anything just her walking around. Really are they perferted how disrespectful. I come out and I have to go around these two white guys who just walk away one says she not leaving. Really are they keeping an eye on me? They need to fix that door....

I have not been to this library in many years because of the way I was constantly treated by staff. The staff was very rude, always yelling at me for no reasons, and the WIFI was so slow. When I was in Elementary School back in the day I was tutored here and I eventually decided to just go to the BIGGBY coffee shop across the street on the other side and never had an issues there. I do not recommend coming to this libary it is very bad and needs a massive renovation. This libary is so old and has not been updated in ages. My Mother was there like a month ago and she called me on the phone and told me her experience was just terrible and that she is never going back. She said the staff was very rude and disrespectful and the Computers are like over ten years old and are very slow. I do not recommend coming...
