Been going here for over 20 years and love it. At The Crest by only showing movies post release date (about the time they are finally being put out on DVD) they entice movie goers with an everyday low price of admission currently at $4.00. Making The Crest a great deal on this fact alone. Enter lame, game show esque, overly excited sales pitch; But wait folks there is much more, go ahead Cameron tell the audience what they have won with their purchase of an economically priced ticket from The Crest. "Well I must say that I am absolutely thrilled and just tickled to be making your wildest movie watching dreams come true." Ohh ahh murmurs the crowd in unison. They are in a hypnotic trance, unable to believe their own ears and demanding to hear more. "My fellow kindred spirits allow for me, for you, to unlock the universe's secrets and inner most mysterious workings. Now, you know me and just like you, love to save money as much as the next person! So, do we have a deal for you today! I'm more then excited to be announcing that The Crest with their unheard of and outrageously low rock-bottom ticket prices and...... Cheaper then usual drinks and snacks being offered, combined with the building's somewhat recent face lift of the auditoriums (most importantly including new seats being installed) oldest venues completed there is almost no local theater competition. I based this comparison on price/comfort/overall experience. Regarding The Crest I have virtually nothing to complain about. The proverbially "cherry on top" to my Crest adventures easily would have be an increased and possibly solely dedicated parking lot/space for theater patrons. Be warned, parking accommodations for the theater are limited and even if you arrive early still might be forced to walk a couple blocks after parking in the surrounding residential neighborhoods. If you are over 21 and just can't wait for a new movie to finally make it to The Crest (which actually there's a very little possibility that it ever will you) check out Cinnebarre in Montlake Terrac. All day on Tuesdays and Thursdays they show $6 movies. Words of caution for those under 21 or anyone wishing to accompanied with someone under 21: because alcohol is served and allowed to be consumed anywhere in the establishment they always card and without exception no one under drinking age is ever allowed entrance. In my opinion, this is the only local theater in the North Sesttle area for the sake of economic value that can even compete...
Read moreMy partner and I came here to see "A Quiet Place". Great film, by the way, see it in theaters while you can. "The Crest", as this theater is is known, is a fantastic little place to go see films after they've had their first runs in the larger commercial theaters. Ticket prices are better than in many places, and the concessions are also cheaper. They have popcorn, but also a few more filling "food" options. Also of note are their bulk candy bins, where you can mix and match various gummy, chocolate-y etc candies for $8/lb. Oh, and they had a little display not far from the concession stand where you could add various seasonings to your popcorn, free of charge. Employees were courteous, and seemed happy enough to be there. The screening room we sat in was pleasant and clean. I didn't see any trash on the floor, and there were only a few other people (less than 10) at the time we went (about 3pm). The layout was very simple, one section of chairs with walkways all the way down on either side. Before the movie started, an employee at the front of the screen greeted us all and said a little about upcoming events and such. Picture quality and sound quality were equal to any other theater I've been to, which is to say that they were fantastic. Restrooms were accessible from the main lobby and were clean.
This is a fantastic theater, and is a perfect place for a date night, a family event, or to just go and see a movie that you missed in bigger theaters or wanted to see on the big...
Read moreThese are what my grandma used to call "Cheapie Theatres" and affordable they still are. I can't remember ever paying $4 a ticket, and that's exactly what they charge here! The vibe is really different from your big chain theatres in the best way possible. Kitsch to the max. I loved it!
The screens are a little smaller, but the seating is still great. No matter how tall the folks in front of you are there's no issues seeing -i know bc the people in front of my 10 yr old and I were well over 6 ft. Another great thing about this place is they have older movies. Not super old, but if you missed it in the bigger cinemas this place is probably still showing it. We saw a movie that came out at Xmas in late March.
They offer concessions and the candy is still overpriced - wouldn't be the movies if it weren't! But we bring our own, and popcorn & drinks are totally reasonable and also refillable at any time for free. They have per pound candy dispensers filled with boutique candies, and they also have a seasoning bar for your popcorn with all sorts of powdered flavors. Kettle corn, caramel, cheddar, ranch, etc.
The men's restroom is on the main floor and marked, and the ladies' room is upstairs and unmarked, both LGBTQ friendly.
They do have a small parking lot but it was full and I gather most people park on side streets in the surrounding neighborhood like we did. All free! Just be careful not to block corners or driveways. I'll...
