No 5 point harnesses in these higher speed go carts and a very twisting track is a bad combination. I lost control in a hairpin turn and slammed into a wall at 35 mph with a helmet and lap belt only. Bruising from the belt and the neck restraint on the helmet, whiplash, and other injuries are not worth the risk, especially for younger drivers.
Open high-speed vehicles should be equipped with more extensive safety restraints than traditional "go-karts", especially as the speed promotes a more competitive environment among some racers.
