Shoreline Auto Clinic — Attraction in Shoreline

100/10 recommend this mechanic! I googled them looking for a near by shop desperate because my car was not drivable and I depend so much on my car as a single mother with work and kids. I called a couple prior who wouldn’t even give me an estimate of the service without brining it in and paying $200 for the eval and even then it would take over 2 weeks for them to work on it. I called him told him what was wrong based on a check from Les Schwab and provided codes… Rory immediately gave me an estimate which was quite more affordable than what I could gather from other shops… and told me to bring it on in. I did. Later that day he called stating there was more issues because when my vacuum pump exploded the metal went into my motor- He told me how much it would roughly be given the complexity of what had to be removed to get to it and the flushed that would need to take place and I couldn’t afford it so I told him I would tow it and bring it back when I could afford it. He advised different because it would be more expensive to take things off he did thus car again..but most importantly moving it at all even with a tow risked my engine blowing and he already tested it and we were luckily in good shape at the time to save it. He texted me pictures of what it looked like.. what my vacuum pump looked like where it exploded and what the new one looked like and explained to me what I was seeing. I told him I couldn’t afford it still so he said I could keep it there at the shop, they would fix it and I could pay it off in a couple weeks when I got paid- which would save me on the tow and the “rework” by a couple hundred. I didn’t know this man at all. Never met him. Never took my car to his shop. I didn’t even know anyone who had before- he was well aware how desperate I was and I just googled him. YET he treated me with compassion, honestly, and was concerned about my financial state instead of pushing my car in and out. When I got the complete invoice, it was a little less than even what he quoted me… and he could have charged me the quote and I would have never known. I will 100000% recommend him to everyone and never take my car...

My check engine light came on and I initially went to another mechanic shop near by. The other shop ran a diagnostic and told me my catalytic converter was no good and needed to be replaced. I thought that was pretty interesting considering it had been replaced about a year ago and should be working just fine. They wanted me to wait a couple hours and pay 1K to have it replaced. Wanting a second opinion I pulled up to Shoreline Auto Clinic. I was greeted quickly and explained my situation. Without any hesitation they ran a diagnostic on my car and did a brief inspection as well. They told me it was unlikely to be my catalytic converter and more likely something else. The guy figured it might be the spark plugs and so he pulled one out and sure enough it was shot. So I ran to an auto parts store picked up new spark plugs, ran back to Shoreline Auto clinic and the same guy put the new plugs in for me. Fast work, fair pricing, and a knowledgeable owner that is very friendly. I took my Astro van in that had a squeaky noise from the front end. Another auto repair shop quoted me $3,000 to replace all my brake line tubing and front brakes. Told me the van was unsafe to drive and tried to pressure me into doing the repair on the spot.

I then took my van to SAC for a second opinion as they are right down the street from my house, and quickly realized the other shop was talking out their backside. Noise issue was a failed wheel bearing. Brake lines were fine, and brake pads could be replaced but wasn't critical. Ended up getting the wheel bearing fixed and brake pads replaced for a fraction of the quote from the first auto shop. We've since taken our Audi there for some work, and once again great experience. Happy to have visited SAC as this will be our auto shop moving forward. ...
