A 10 am trip seemed out of reach when a sudden rainstorm hit us but luckily it cleared up and because of the materials used at the main playground (asphalt looking but very squishy and comfy to walk/run around on) and splashpad (smoothed concrete) area everything dried really quickly and the day went on as planned. It was my first time here and the kids had a great time. They spent about 2.5 hours in the splashpad area.
Splashpad is a big round water play area with various sprinkler/fountain like water spurts that start off light and then progressively get a bit stronger/higher. There are a few animal sculptures that squirt water and a big misty mushroom tree.
The playground is very nice, large with a few slides, climbing areas, etc.
The website for the park is very informative and tells you exactly what to expect like bring sandals/water shoes because outside the water on a sunny day it gets hot.
There are 1 or 2 pavilions you can reserve. There were 2 small birthday parties while we were there today and all the kids had fun playing together.
I didnt go elsewhere in the park today but there are also biking/running/walking trails, some sports fields and its right next to a large, very nice public library.
When you first drive back toward the main play area, there is a smaller park to the right. It looks like it is meant for smaller children/toddlers. Its in a nice shaded area and has at least 5 play attractions. It looked like they were actually re-(mulching?) it. It was the light Sandy colored chip...
Read moreThis is a great park. The area is fenced in but not gated. No matter where I stood, I had a good view of my little. If you have babies that aren't able to enjoy the splash pad, there are bucket swings located near the water, so you can swing your baby while still keeping an eye out on the other. The playground is great, too. It's large, has a canopy for shade, serves many ages, and has a rubber surfaced ground. Between the splash pad and the playground, there are picnic tables that are also shaded. You'll also find benches all around, and most have shade. Bathrooms are located on the other side of the parking lot. It's not a long walk and easy to get to. Around the area, there are trails and sand volleyball courts. I saw many parents/kids playing in the sand before heading to their car. I will say that this is a popular spot. Daycares frequently use the park as their field trip. The positive - there is always someone to play with, which gives parents a break. Down side - If you have a timid toddler or younger toddler, they might get bumped or knocked down, but that's all part...
Read moreThis is a great park, especially for younger children, with a large playground, plenty of free parking, bathrooms, picnic area, water fountains, and biking/walking/jogging trails. The main playground area has a spot for babies to play, a water area with fountains splashing for kids in bathing suits to play, and a good sized playground for toddlers and older kids to have fun. Parking is free and plentiful. There are bathrooms directly adjacent to the playground, though they were closed and locked on the Sunday we went. In the middle of the play area is a shaded pavilion with tables for birthday parties. I believe you can rent/reserve this spot. Adjacent to the playground and next to the bathrooms is a larger pavilion which you can also rent for parties. Very cool park and all for free (outside of party reservations).
The only downsides are that the play areas have very little shade for the adults and the ground can get very hot in the summer sun, so bring shoes and any...
