Hiked this on 1/22/23. I knew the surrounding areas had received snow, so I anticipated a little. The trail had a couple inches of snow up until around Grand Prospect. We ended at Rattlesnake Mountain, so we didn't get to East Peak. But, it's only 1/4 mile away or so. From GP, I put my snowshoes on (glad I brought them) and blazed the trail all the way to RS Mt., which is about 1.5 miles from GP. The trail was definitely not easy to spot with all the snow, but we left a good boot path. We decided to take the road up to RSM instead as well. My friend was postholing in my tracks up to her knees, though she did hit one up to her waist. It wasn't a great experience for her, for sure. So, if you're going to do the hike through, bring poles, snowshoes, and possibly spikes. Though, who knows, by the time you read this the snow may have thinned. There was definitely less by the time we got down. We did an out and back, but I want to hike through next time.
