Mad Horse is a fantastic place to enjoy theatre in Maine. Not only do they put on great shows, they give so much back to the community that you feel like you're watching the improvement of Maine theatre happen around you. Their small warehouse black box feels cramped at first, but show after show I am amazed at seeing what they can do and how they can morph their space. The three-sided audience keeps you in the atmosphere of the play while also allowing you to simultaneously experience art with a total stranger. Pay what you can tickets offered for every show, and fantastic student discounts, make Mad Horse the place to be for theatre in Maine whenever their shows come around.

What a great theater! They did a magnificent performance of “Quills”. It is a small, intimate theater. The staging was well done and the actors were great despite one of the coldest nights in 50 years. The show must go on, and it did. Their pricing policy is donate after the show. If you didn’t like it nothing lost. I highly recommend this wonderful Art House.

Gone to two shows now, loved every minute. The cookies at the concession stand are fresh baked and so good. They make sure you're prepared for the show with reminders of how long it is and to use the bathroom before the show, ear plugs if it's loud, etc. Will definitely go again.
