This place was a complete and total shock to me and my mom. She had found something about this place in a travel book of see kind and we decided to check it out. We had no idea it was anything like it is. It's kind of magical. Something like you would see in a movie or in your dreams. It's so gorgeous and I haven't even seen all of it. From what I did see there are all kinds of flowers, plants, ferns, trees and so much more at Sandhills Horticulture Gardens and there are paths to walk to various gardens. There are so many gardens I'm not sure how long it would take to see all of them. I was honestly thinking it would be one garden not much bigger than a large swimming pool, boy was I wrong! This place is huge. It reminded me of the zoo with there beautiful and exotic plants and flowers and from my understanding it's completely manned by students and teachers. This is truly a hidden gem being it's located in Sandhills community college behind Steed Hall; just walk up like you are going into Steed Hall but instead of going in continue walking to the right, follow the walkway around the building and soon you will see the gardens. And it's completely free!!! It's the perfect place to bring children, you could work on teaching them their colors here. Just bring a stroller because they will get tired from walking so much and bring something for you to eat and drink if you plan on staying awhile because there are no places to get either here. However if you do pack a lunch please clean up your trash. This place is way to beautiful and cared for to be destroyed by litter bugs. Sandhills Horticulture Gardens is open from 7-9 or from sunrise to sunset every day. If i lived around there I would totally go there every day. I can't wait until my grandson gets a little older so I can take him to see all the beautiful flowers, trees and awesome statues. If you liked what I had to say please let me know by hitting the like button. Thank...

Read moreBeautiful afternoon visiting the gardens. It was so quiet there today so we felt like we had the place to ourself. This garden is very big to walk with different sections. We started at the entrance and could not find a paper map so we snapped a picture on our phone from the wall.
It was extremely warm today and the sun was beating down, so in my opinion it would be ideal to visit in cooler weather. There were some really pretty flowers to see, a beautiful wishing well and some unique art structures.
I will say there are a lot of hills in this garden. I use a walker and had a hard time. So if you have difficulty walking this place is not ideal.
It was free to get in so take advantage and...
