I love that this old school drive-in still exists! During the summers, they show one movie every Saturday night. I have no idea how they pick the movie but most are kid friendly (not Halloween weekend). Each week a different non-profit helps do the ticket taking, parking, and concessions. Profit goes to the groups. Most weeks there are food trucks and kid games before the shows. Gates open at 6pm. They try to park you by car type so smaller cars aren't blocked. You're not supposed to leave the trunk open, so your best bet is a pickup truck with pillows or camp chairs and a blanket. Tune your car to 89.9 FM. It's $20 per car or $5 for up to 4 walk in people, cash only. Flush bathrooms are crowded, especially for the ladies. Portables are unreliable for cleanliness. Movies usually start about 10-20 minutes after sundown. They play a mix of old time ads and sponsor ads. It's something fun to do at least once a summer. They do sell snacks, usually until the movie starts. They ask that you don't have open flames (grills, etc), alcohol, or pot, for safety regulations. It's run mostly...

We love the Southington Drive-In! It’s become a family tradition ever since it reopened. For $20 a carload or $5 to walk in with a chair — plus just $2 for popcorn — it’s the most affordable night out you’ll find. We always get there early because there are usually activities for the kids before the show, along with ice cream and food trucks.

If you want to switch things up, there are great restaurant options nearby like Sushi House, Spartan II, and Close Harbour Seafood. Sometimes we’ll order takeout, walk over to pick it up, and bring it back to the truck for dinner.

Everyone is always friendly, and the people who run it are fantastic. If you’re looking for a fun experience and great movies, you’ve got to check out the...

Awesome family night out!!! Food was excellent and I was surprised at the great prices! We parked outside and walked in due to worries about how long it would take to drive out later. It was a short walk in/out and also seemed like a quick exit after the film for the drivers. There was a delay in starting the film ("The Goonies") and a brief technical issue later on but the staff communicated updates to the guests and that went a long way towards making the interruptions ultimately forgettable. All in all, a super-affordable and pleasurable family night out! Highly recommend the...

Where can you go and enjoy a sunset and a movie? Southington Drive In 995 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike, Southington I had only been to one other drive in - so I was just not prepared for the good time we were about to have! The field opened at 6pm where people are encouraged to come early - and now I know why....it's quite an ordeal to get everyone parked in their spots lined up right and facing the way they want - meaning either facing front and you sit in your front seat, or facing from the back and you are in the back of your vehicle. So many people came in trucks and cozied up the flatbeds! They have a large pavilion and grounds to enjoy beforehand and it felt like one big friendly tailgate where everyone was laughing. They had a food truck serving hot dogs and hamburgers, Nana's Ice Cream truck and a snack bar run by volunteers. I could not believe the snack bar prices - soda for just $2 and a nice container of popcorn for just $1! Even though I had a big bag - I felt compelled to get one! Here are the six drive in's I could find that operate in Connecticut: 1. Drive In Movies at Ridgefield High look up www.ridgefieldplayhouse.org. for more info 2. Edmond Town Hall Ingersoll Auto Pop-Up Drive In Theatre 45 Main Street Newtown 3. Mansfield Drive In 228 Stafford Rd Mansfield, CT 4. Southington Drive In 995 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike Southington 5. Stamford Museum & Nature Center 39 Scofieldtown Road Stamford 6. Twilight Outdoor Movies LLC 25 North Plains Highway Wallingford If you have not been - they usually open the field at least an hour before the movie opens - to get everyone in their spot - it's first come first served. Movies begin about a half hour after sun sets. They have you tune into a radio station to hear the sound - but it was so quiet here, they had a speaker and we heard that just fine. #ct #connecticut #southingtonct #southingtondrivein #thingstodoinct #thingstdoinconnecticut #ctfun #ctdatenight #connecticutlife #driveinmovie
