This church distinguishes itself as a sanctuary for those seeking a profound spiritual experience.
It is not suited for those seeking casual diversions.
Conversely, this church is ideally suited for individuals seeking a community where the teachings are grounded in deep respect for God and Scripture, cultivated from an early age.
Attending Pastor Pennington's sermons provides a uniquely enriching experience, with many finding the depth of analysis and insights derived from each verse remarkably comprehensive.
One particular sermon stands out, which solidified my commitment to this church. Pastor Pennington announced a sermon focused on a single verse, and while I initially anticipated a shorter service, the sermon maintained its usual length and generated an even greater volume of notes than I had ever taken in a church service.
Pastor Pennington's profound reverence for God and Scripture is evident in his ability to effectively elucidate the Scriptures. This approach allows the youth within the congregation to grasp the teachings while providing an engaging and intellectually stimulating presentation for the adults.
Pastor Pennington's sermons are not merely intended to impart knowledge about the Bible; instead, he delivers his sermons as an act of reverence and worship to God, inviting the congregation to participate in that worship.
The church features an orchestra and choir, with the congregation and choir performing both hymns and theologically sound new songs. The choir and special singers are of exceptional quality. Having participated in choirs since childhood, I can attest to the difficulty of achieving a cohesive choir sound. The choir director, Seth Bigelow, excels with the orchestra and choir, making it a joy to sing with and hear them each week.
Pastor Pennington and his wife have also written several theologically sound and beautiful hymns.
Regarding the children's ministry, my initial experience is noteworthy. During my second visit, my preschool-aged child asked a memorable question: "So I don't understand something." She then asked, "Which comes first sanctification or propitiation?" This demonstrated that my four-year-old was being taught and comprehending more theology than I had in my lifetime.
Their VBS is of exceptional quality, and the children walk away with such an in-depth knowledge of the subject matter that I am truly amazed each year.
Each year the children's and youth choirs (Kinder, 1st-2nd, 3rd-5th) put on special performances at Christmas and in the spring. The 3rd-5th put on an amazing musical play that consistently brings laughter and joy, while also being theologically sound (as the youth pastor gives the biblical wrap up at the end of the play, there is no doubt that the church believes these historically accurate stories are true, as Biblically told.)
Witnessing my child's academic progression, I am consistently impressed by the deepening of her understanding and appreciation for the Scriptures and her relationship...
Read moreA biblically sound church that stands firm on their high view of God and high view of scripture. Pastor Tom is SO knowledgeable, the church is filled with truly servant-hearted people, and the expository preaching has truly deepened our understanding of biblical theology. There are so many ways to get connected in different ministries - through serving, small group bible studies, small group fellowships, mens breakfast, womens Titus 2 study, preschool playdate, and so much more. The children's ministry is truly phenomenal; the staff is loving and genuinely cares about the children in their care, and it is not just viewed as "child care". They take very seriously their roles in walking alongside parents to preach the true gospel of Jesus Christ and growing their faith. We've had many wonderful biblically sound guest preachers, the annual Countryside Conference, the well sought after VBS, and so many other ways to grow your faith and get involved. We are truly grateful that we found Countryside and for the community we've...
Read moreWe've been at this church for over a decade and it has been a wonderful home, a loving church family. Our motto is a high view of God, a high view of Scripture. God is honored and exalted in this place, and His Word is taught without equivocation. The full counsel of God is preached and the gospel is proclaimed every week. Many lives are changed and the body of believers has a true love for this local church. We are very blessed to be there and enjoy serving alongside others in this family. We also appreciate the excellent music that lifts our hearts to God In praise every time, the excellent nursery and children's programs, the Awana program that helps us teach our kids the Scripture, and the great youth program here that encourages and equips our young people to...
