This was a date night getaway for my husband and me. We checked in and I was delighted at how modern yet still cozy the lobby space was (very clean but also romantic lighting and a pleasant air freshener). Check in was fast and I thought the water fizzy tablets were a thoughtful touch. We had reserved a corner room because I wanted the floor to ceiling windows on 2 sides of the room. They are not wraparound windows as another reviewer claimed. The room was clean and spacious with a semicircular couch, coffee table, desk, mini fridge, dual sink with generous counter space in the bathroom, TV, walk-in shower with excellent water pressure and enough space for 2 trim or average size people, and a toilet separated by a door from the sink and shower area (LOVE that). The King size bed's sheets were clean and the pillows were plump. By the way, we didn't hear a peep from neighbors (if they were any) that night or the next morning. Not long after settling into the room, we went out to dinner. When we came back I saw on the hotel's website that we had missed live music (modern electric violin) at the Sky Creek restaurant from 7-9:30 p.m. (we didn't know about it). We used the pool after dinner. It's open til 10 p.m. The water was freezing and it only gets as deep as 4 ft. but there are thickly padded lounge chairs on the deck and more intimate covered 2-seaters with pillows. There is no hot tub. You can have food delivered from Sky Creek poolside. That night, we slept incredibly well (10 1/2 hrs). The next morning, we went to Sky Creek restaurant for brunch at 9:30. We ordered starters: 1 yogurt w/fresh fruit, homemade berry jam and granola and 1 blueberry pancakes w/lemon curd, homemade berry jam and fresh fruit. When our food was served, we pointed out to the server that my granola was missing. Our server left and when he came back 15 minutes later, he brought us the check (which we hadn't asked for yet), no new food and he hadn't discounted or comped anything on the check. That was downright rude. So we put the bill aside for the moment. Then we waited another unreasonable amount of time for my granola. He finally brought me a new yogurt but still no granola. Then we pointed out that my husband's pancakes were missing blueberries and homemade jam. So the server says something like, "I don't know what these guys are doing. I will have to talk to them". But the yogurt is served in a clear glass; if the server had checked the glass before he walked away from the kitchen, he would have seen that the granola was still missing. So he leaves our table again. He brings me some granola. But he says nothing about my husband's pancakes so I ask him, "Are you going to bring my husband new pancakes with blueberries and jam?" He says yes and then leaves. I finally am able to tuck into my yogurt because who is going to devour yogurt and then eat granola all by itself afterward? He finally brings new pancakes and they look exactly like the other ones (plain pancakes w/syrup and that's it). So I point out to him that the blueberries are still missing. He says I have to lift up the pancakes because the blueberries are on the bottom so I do and there they are but the jam is still missing. So he brings me a tiny canister of jam and a Smucker's apple jelly packet. By that point, I sense that he is irritated. And he doesn't check up on us anymore after that. I will concede that once he brought me the granola and I mixed it in with the homemade jam, fresh fruit and yogurt, it was outstanding. I highly recommend the hotel but the service at the restaurant, including the cook staff, needs...
Read moreI very rarely take the time to review anything, and this is a long post. I feel it is important for guests to be aware before they book this hotel.
My husband and were were so excited to book a stay at the Delta, as our home is being sold and we were having an open house this weekend. We had been packing and cleaning all week, till late every night, and we're physically exhausted. We needed a place to rest, enjoy a nice breakfast, with no worries and kindness. I also wanted to check it out for my work, for our board to possibly stay at.
I'm a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member that spends thousands of dollars each year, so I had some points to use. I booked our stay with points, then noticed several days later that the entire charge was charged to my credit card. I called and spoke to the front desk manager who was zero help and proclaimed it was just too bad. No help offered and actually insinuated that I was being deceptive and refused to help me. She actually hung up on me.
I called Marriott Bonvoy, who was extremely helpful, acknowledged the mistake and helped correct their error. They said the solution was very easy, as I was within cancelation policy timing anyway, so they canceled, confirmed I would not be charged, and booked me another reservation with my points. They pointed out that the call was being recorded, apologized for the hotels lack of concern, unwillingness to help (they could have done the same thing Bonvoy did) and rudeness and said they would escalate to make sure it was addressed at the Delta and never happened again.
The Delta still charged the full amount, with no refund. I promptly took all details to my credit card company and filed a fraud charge on the hotel.
This morning we were told breakfast was at 7am. It was the posted time. We went down and no one but a table setter was in the restaurant. No cooks or servers. We were told it was closed. Later found out that the staff did not show up. There went breakfast, too.
The room was very nice and spotless. The bed was extremely comfortable. Room service was fairly quick and done well. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff at the front desk, upon arrival, were very nice.
I cannot book this hotel personally or professionally until the management is either replaced or trained properly on how to treat their customers and to keep a reliable staff. Hopefully, this review will prompt change, as well as prevent anyone else from being...
Read moreWe were here for a wedding & part of a large group. Upon arrival, we were immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the lobby & the signature scent is really nice. Giovanni made our check in process a positive & seamless experience! He was prompt & professional while also warm & accommodating. After a long day of travel & busy itinerary ahead, Giovanni’s service was extremely appreciated! Our first evening, Thursday, we enjoyed a smash burger & a delicious carrot cake that was brought out for my husband’s birthday. I can’t remember her name for the life of me (she had a dog named Kemah!) but our server was super friendly & so personable! She helped us with the menu, recommended items & made sure our group had everything we needed to enjoy our evening. Throughout our stay, I saw her a few times in passing & she always met me with a smile & kind words!
We ate breakfast at the restaurant - order the biscuits & gravy or the Monte Cristo, or the French toast as all were delicious - and Kelly was our server. Her cheerful attitude was contagious, her attentiveness appreciated, and her efforts to ensure we were taken care of were clear! Jesus also served us when we dined a different time & did a fantastic job. He was flexible with our table that continued to grow & we all loved his playful & kind personality!
Also want to shout out Eric at the bar, who hustled and did an excellent job with serving us and our very large group! Didn’t catch the name of the other bartenders but they absolutely killed it at taking care of our large & rather boisterous group!
Lastly, we appreciate Jarvis for his consistent patience & warmth throughout our time there. He always met you with a smile! Jarvis held the confidence and composure necessary for overseeing the lobby and bar late into the evening. His professionalism is an asset to this location, ensuring that guests will have an elevated & enjoyable experience.
Although I didn’t get everyone’s name, it’s clear that all of the staff work hard to provide an excellent guest experience and we appreciate the southern...
