This rail to trail has so much potential to be something great. In recent years the trailhead has become a haven for homeless camping with suspicious people always loitering around. The trash cans are overflowing and the bathroom has been closed to prevent drug use. The trail is often used by homeless to access illegal camps and in recent years brush fires have been started by homeless campfires. I would not use this trail if I were alone and female and do not leave any valuables what so ever in your vehicle. All that being said, once you get a mile down the trail it's a fantastic path. I really wish they would finish the route to Cheney which might allow more users potentially forcing the shady individuals...
Read moreThis trailhead is easy to get to from both the freeway and downtown. You can even ride your bike from Centennial Trail and only have to cross a few roads to get here.
The trailhead is paved for parking. I would caution trail users to not leave anything in your car worth stealing. This area of Spokane has a high rate if property crime and the trail head sees a lot of foot traffic from the nearby motels.

The trail is great for cycling. It is paved for 9 miles gaining about 300' elevation. Recently the bums are sleeping alongside the trail within a mile of the trail head. In the six years I have lived in Spokane the brick restroom is always locked. There is a portable outhouse there in April 2024 and it was padlocked.
