High Bridge Park — Attraction in Spokane

This is not to be confused with High Bridge Dog Park, which is up the hill & across the street from Highbridge Park. I enjoy coming down to this park when the weather is decent. I sit at a table & string a wire to a nearby tree, so I can listen to shortwave radio. There is a picnic shelter, a disc (frisbee) golf course, a large lawn, lots of trees, a playground, & in the summer, 2 BBQs on stands that anyone can use. It's beautiful down there, & is usually pretty quiet & peaceful. However, this park has a history of being a gay cruiser park, in other words, a place gay men go to meet other gay men to have sex. So be prepared, if you are a guy, especially of high school/college age, to be approached by & attempted to be chatted up by horny middle aged & older men. Also, there are several rather large homeless camps under the bridges, on both sides of the creek. If enough people complain, the cops go down & chase them off, but they're usually back in a day or 2 & in greater numbers. The bathrooms are not open all the time, because people regularly go in both the men's & women's bathrooms & have gay sex or lay on the floor passed out with a needle in their arm. I have been unfortunate enough to see both several times. I regularly see used condoms & needles on the grass & even under or on picnic tables. I've heard others tell me they have found used condoms & needles among the playground equipment. My advice, if you go down there, dont carry any money or anything valuable, don't leave ANYTHING even possibly valuable in your vehicle (I see people's vehicle windows smashed in all the time), carry pepper spray & a cell phone, & don't go alone unless you are 6'5" & 300 lbs & know how to...

High Bridge Dog Park still looks The Same but is Still a Great Place to Take Your Dog to Play it has a Small Dog run right by the Parking Area and a Larger Dog Run up the hill from the Parking Area. It's a Great way to get Your Dog interacting with Other Dog's and get Your Dog Used to being around other Dogs plus it allows Dog Owners to Meet each other and make New Friends. High bridge park is one of the largest parks in the city limits to hold larg funcsions like live concerts back in the early seventys and has been virchuly unchanged sins its begining it sits in the middle of layta vally and peoples park and is a great get away that not far from the city center.it does need the acumalating refuge cleened up more offten.
