We spent the weekend camping near Spooner and just had to check out a local brewery. I was sold with the Friday Fish Fry.

We were welcomed with a wait time so we had a beer. They do take call ahead but I wasn't sure on our timing. No problem though, the owner was very helpful in getting us a beer and we sat on the stage in some comfy chairs while we waited about 15 minutes.

I had the Mortified Pale Ale and my husband had the Get to the hoppa IPA. We liked both enough to grab Crowlers on the way out.

On our way to the table, we could choose between the super nice dinner room or patio, I asked about the pickles I saw in the front cooler. Next thing I knew we had a small ate of pickles to sample. They were so good.

The fish fry was worth the trip! 3 fish fried in a thick crispy batter, fries, and cole slaw that was very good and creamy. The tartar sauce was flavorful but I was good with lemon.

We also had cheese curds with a creole marinara sauce for dipping. Also delicious.

We had another Get to the Hoppa IPA and a Back Alley Sally Pilsner with dinner. I like a pils with dinner, nice and light. This one did not disappoint.

The restaurant and brewery were modern and clean. Fun decor. Well tended restrooms. Families, groups, and couples would all be happy here. The menu was a good size and had a few non meat options which is important to me, a vegetarian who enjoys the occasional fish fry.

With the help of the lovely owner, who was so friendly and welcoming, I left with left overs in a cardboard take out container (yay!), a jar of Tony Packo Sweet Hot Pickles and Peppers, and two Crowlers.

I cannot wait to get back out to Spooner to try more menu items and beer!

We visited Wednesday, December 5th, and arrived shortly after 4:00. We were seated by a Hostess and was advised waitstaff would be with us shortly, however, it was 10 to 15 minutes later until the waitress came to the table. She apologized for the time delay, and said she didn't see us come in. My husband responded by telling her that the Hostess was to alert her, but she had no response.

I planned on ordering the whitefish tacos, however, they for some reason, were not available. It would have been helpful if the waitress would have advised us of this when she gave us the menus, rather than at the time of placing the order. I ordered the chicken breast and my husband had a cheeseburger. The best part of the chicken breast was the wedge side salad. The crisp bacon over the top and the freshly sliced bleu cheese was a nice addition. The chicken must not have been directly over the heat, as it was raw on one end. The side of popcorn might have held six to ten pieces of popped popcorn! Why even bother with such a small amount.

As for the beer, we had a Back Alley Sally, Smoke in the Eye, and Mortified. The Mortified was the only one that did not have a vinegar after-taste. We have been to Bent Paddle, Castle Danger and Hoops Brewing, and have never had beer with a vinegar after-taste. My husband claims it's an issue with the tap, either needing to be cleaned or ran more before pouring.

I think it's great this Brewery serves food, however, feel the menu needs revising. I would omit the entrees, and focus more on specialty sandwiches with choices of good sides. Northern Waters and Corktown in Duluth are some...

Much Ado....beautiful spot. The bar is gorgeous, the furnishings & decor are lovely. I especially like the filials for the taps, really cool. The "sketch" behind the holding tanks is cool. Now they need to train staff. Friday night fish fry in Wisconsin is practically a religious experience. You know your going to be busy! I'm visiting family in the area & they wanted to show off the new spot in town. We came at peak, expecting a wait. We were told 45min. I watched them turn away as many as you seated! At 45 min we still had 8 folks in front of us! As I watched the tables getting cleared I noticed the staff grabbing a couple plates & beer glasses at a time. One young one made 4 trips for a 6 top......get some bus tubs! The food was good, we ordered it & he literally turned around & brought it to us. Under 5 min. I dont think I have ever gotten food so fast. I ordered a side salad. You may want to explain to your staff what it is, so they can communicate that. The snit of tomato juice was odd. I get the de- constructed Wedge Salad, but he didn't. Biggest issue was we waited an hour, staff seemed young & slow (need better management of your turns) & then dinner was a rush. Clearly your kitchen is your strength,...

My wife, daughter and I stopped in for lunch the other day. The atmosphere was excellent. Much more of a restaurant vibe, which is great considering we aren't beer drinkers - ha! So it's more inviting for people like us. The food menu was limited, but what they did, they did it very well. I had the prime dip, my daughter had the Caesar salad and my wife had their BLT. All were very good! (The prime dip would be even better if they threw some provolone cheese on it) They did have a good list of ~16 beers or so, but can't comment on those. The place was very clean and the staff was very friendly. The only slight knock on this place is, as others have pointed out, it is a little pricey, especially for NW Wisconsin. We will definitely be back.

Round Man is a cool brewery. They had 14 of their own beers, a cider, and a seltzer on on my stop. It has a modern industrial style with woods, stone counters, and music. Beers on were: pilsner, cream, pale ale, IPA, 2 Hazy IPAs, American lager, Bohemian lager, amber, Irish red, Irish stout, Oreo cookie stout, kolsch, and a session pale. The service was really friendly but busy. Food had a decent selection of apps, burgers, entrees, etc. My dish was okay but others were really good. It's a big place with private rooms available. Not too many places like this in NW Wisconsin. All in all, the beer was good enough to bring me back...and so was the food.

Friendly brewery with good selection of food. My group tasted all the beers and we were a little disappointed - the only one that stood out to us was the Omaha IPA. The rest weren’t that interesting for brewery standards. The wings were juicy but not as flavorful as expected. However, the Royale burger was delicious and their fish fry was great; I loved the baked sweet potato! Overall we enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. We’d go back for the food, the Omaha IPA and maybe try their cocktails.
