This was my first experience with La Cabana. We ordered takeout on Sunday Eve. Initially, we were looking for delivery, but we were concerned it would take a substantial amount of time for the food to be delivered. When my friend called to put in the order, the person who answered was in a neighboring town (possibly on a delivery). The worker seemed flustered and very busy, mentioning that if we had a large order or weren't sure what we wanted, we would possibly need a call back. I fully understand this and sympathize. However, as a first-time orderer, we had an extremely difficult time finding a menu online to even order from. Because of this, it took us several minutes to place an order for 6 people (5 meals/ OR appetizers). There were some specials listed on a Facebook web page, but not a full menu. We requested some things that had shown up online that may have been discontinued or out of season. I thought I ordered 2 orders of churros, but we later discovered they weren't added to the bill. My friend was also missing some sauces that she had requested. Though it was confusing and a bit flustering in the ordering experience, we picked up our meal in a half hour packaged neatly waiting for us at a counter. It was about $60 for the five meals that were all proportioned well. Everyone liked the taste of their food, a mix of Mexican-American dishes, and Italian American food. The young children enjoyed the Burbon Boneless wings appetizer, comparing it to General Tso's- in terms of texture, heat, and flavor. My chimichanga tasted great, but was stuck to the styrofoam box. Maybe poke holes in the box for steam? I'd recommend dining in if possible, or ordering when less busy. Overall, though, we still had a good experience! I'd recommend the chicken Alfredo...
Read moreAte here on a busy Holiday Weekend and the service was great. Friendly and fast! Jo was an awesome server.
There isn’t a lot of seating, so please don’t go with your party of 10+ unless you offer to eat on the patio. The air conditioner went out when we were there, but they opened front and side doors and got a nice cross breeze going. The place could use a makeover but then, most places in town need that, so not a deal breaker, lol.
As for the food, my taco salad was bland and good, but could be great: the shell was perfect, the ground beef was okay. They use white cheese, which changing to cheddar would be an easy and flavorful improvement. Also there was too much iceberg lettuce. They should add beans and use less lettuce. Maybe a refried bean base at the bottom and build from there. Also, needs pico or salsa. Overall, very boring but it was good enough.
My daughter’s chicken fajitas were really good. The chicken has a great charred flavor. Peppers and onions were also nicely charred. Good flour tortillas. I will likely get those next time.
We’ll be...
Read moreI have been to this restaurant many times and the food and service were always good My server was actively serving tables while eating his own meal I understand servers need a break and deserve a break but this was not the entire point With each bite the server would lick or suck his fingers He was eating in full view of the patrons At one point he even cleared his gum line with one finger. He was eating over the bin of ice and the very small “bar” area where they mix drinks We were sitting with clear view of the kitchen and the cook was repeatedly washing his hands When our meal was ready he went directly into the kitchen and carried the food to our table and then resumed eating As I said I think everyone expects servers to take breaks and potentially have a meal break. But constantly having your fingers in your mouth and then serving food to patrons without washing his hands. I’m not sure I will return to that restaurant or at least get a...
