Wow. This place is the real deal. I’m not sure why it is called a “drive in”, maybe for search results, but this place was awesome. Large menu of items. Delicious food. Great ice cream treat selection for desert.

I had the chimichanga as other reviewers said to get. Phenomenal. I asked for some of their hot sauce (about the same “heat” as the green sauce at chipotle) and that moved the chimi from great to ridiculously good. My friend had the Super Nachos and those looked delicious and he said they were.

Another guy near us had a rueben. That looked great also. Large portions.

In the Covid times, they do have a front porch with covered tables to sit at. They also have a screen porch with a couple tables if it’s buggy or raining. They do a LOT of takeout so don’t be shy about calling up and ordering to go. They have a side window specifically for take out orders. It’s a really good system.

The previous reviews prompted me to give Sam Hicks a try when I was in Spooner. The food was so good, I’m going back to Spooner on vacation just to eat here again. This place is FIVE minutes from the golf course if you’re playing a round and looking for lunch afterward.

The ONLY negative is they are only open until 4PM on Sundays. Not really a negative. But if you’re planning supper on Sunday, and you want Sam Hicks, just know you need to order a bit earlier.

I’ll definitely be back. Thanks for...

Went there for the first time at the suggestion of a friend. Two of us had the ground beef taco salad and two had the turkey. The ingredients were fresh and tasty, hot sauce was hot for sure. It lacked guacamole but I am not in TX anymore and it probably would have cost $2 more if it did. The shell was fresh and tasty as well. We were filled up when done with the salad so we didn’t try the ice cream. Next time we go for dessert! The woman who took our order and served us was very friendly and helpful, big welcoming smile on her face. It was hard to choose what to have because there were so many interesting things to order from. I enjoyed the taco salad so much I know I will have to force myself to order something else. Prices were comparable to other restaurants in town. We sat outside in the screened section and there was a delightful breeze blowing through it. I enjoyed the whole experience and will be...

Great food, great desserts, great staff, kid friendly, only thing i would like to suggest is there should be a spot that it states seasonal. Also i live across the street which is great i wake up smelling the delicious food but unfortunately during the busy summer time i do not receive my mail because there is always someone parked right in front of my mailbox and alot of times partially in my driveway making it hard for me to get in and out other than that with it being a very busy place during the months u are open i can say with all these neighborhood kids riding bike, and running from house to house everyone has been great at watching out for the little people :) and our kids love going to get treats when they can and to beable to go play the arcade games also!! Highly recommend but please watch parking in front of our...

Sam Hicks – Spooner, Wisconsin This cute little self-serve restaurant was such a fun stop! Great food, tons of dessert choices 🍦🍪🍰, and the kids’ meals came with a pop-it bracelet, which was such a cute touch! Perfect for families looking for a casual and tasty bite in Spooner! #SamHicksSpooner #WisconsinEats #FamilyFoodie #HiddenGemWI #SelfServeRestaurant

Their submarine sandwiches are incredible! The cornedbeef is especially good. The bread is super soft with a perfect bounce and holds up well to an overflowing sandwich. I actually really like the shredded cheese on them too, its not melted, but I don't think I would want it to be. The prices are also really good! They had pickle fries on the menu and I am so glad we got them. Fried pickles are usually too salty or oily and these are not. They are appropriately named, pickle fries, not spears. I've never had a fried pickle cut like this, but this is how I want all of them from now on. If they have them, order them! You won't regret it.
