Excellent park, great pavilion, decent rest rooms. It's in a very nice neighborhood and has a nice paved walking trail with exercise equipment every so often. They have dip bars, sit up rack, pull up bars, and some other thing I have no idea what it is. Maybe it's a sculpture? There are beautiful big trees for shade, some dirty picnic tables so bring a tablecloth, and fun playground equipment for the family. There was a little bit of riff Raff there, but usually it's quiet. The city art museum is just across the street within walking distance. There is an outdoor Amphitheater in-between the park and the art museum. Would be nice if there were concerts there. I drove by some pickle ball courts and tennis courts on the way in, not sure they are open to the public. The park is surrounded by beautiful homes with nice yards that add to the park feeling. They have good parking, but...

I love this Springfield park perhaps most of all. I love to trot down here for a good run, and every time I do, I feel like I see something new. I see birthday parties; I see families, couples, people walking their dogs; I see LARPers (look it up); I see potlucks; I see high school science projects; I see track teams; I see lone runners. This is a great place to see the Springfield community at their happiest and most relaxed. Not to mention it offers an impressive amount of amenities: a few tennis courts, a full playground, BBQ pits, a sprinking of permament art installations, and a very nice, covered communal area. This is a very old park, and the practicality of it paired with all the old stone work and giant Oak trees makes for a unique place to stop and unwind alone or with your favorite...

It's a nice park. We were there at night, it seemed safe. There was some sort of uniformed bicycle operator with a lot of lighting that seemed to be patrolling the place in some manner. They could've just been the World's Safest Bicyclist though. There's a stage with columns that don't appear to have ever had any structure associated with them. There's a well lit wall that has appeared in music videos. There's an art installation there that could be described by many terms: speech balloon, thought bubble, quote bubble; it's actually an Ernest and Ruth installation. We had a wildlife interaction with an inch worm. I'm not sure what's larval in September in SWMO....

I attended MO State in 1992 when the Springfield 3 went missing. When I get back there I make time to visit here. Like all their families and friends I am haunted by this to this day. The bench and bricks are things I stare at and ask "WHY?" I live in the DFW area now, but those women, I think about them all the time. So glad there's a place you can go and reflect. The Springfield Three refers to an unsolved missing persons case that began on June 7, 1992, when friends Suzanne "Suzie" Streeter and Stacy McCall, and Streeter's mother, Sherrill Levitt, went missing from Levitt's home in Springfield, Missouri.

Phelps Grove Park is an amazingly peaceful park to go to, for a nice run around the track, dog walking, picnics, bbqs or just playing on the toys. Its safe and clean and mostly shaded, from the very mature trees it provides. We have had several birthdays and get togethers here and every one of the family can enjoy. We you like hearing the birds chirp and seeing squirrels. This park is for you. Its also directly behind the museum, that is a must to visit!
