My brother, a VN Marine Vet, was buried here in 1980. I was living in Alaska at the time and attended the funeral, but was not here when the headstone was set, and years passed before I was able to visit the National Cemetery. The cemetery grounds are very nice, but when I later saw my brother's stone, I was almost certain the rank was incorrect. Years passed and then in a visit of about 3 - 4 months ago, I happened to encounter Josh, who is in charge of the cemetery, and asked him if there was any way the rank could be corrected. It took some time but after going through many boxes of old family papers I found brother's DD214 and took that to Josh, who immediately sat down at his computer and completed / submitted the paperwork to have a new, corrected stone cut. I know first hand that the people who bury loved ones here is A not doing community service B He takes his job seriously, and has nothing but the utmost respect for our fallen Hero s And as i said I know this first hand because I am married to Him. To those who are thinking about having their loved one buried here...don't The people whom bury your loved one are there for community service. correct the ones burying your loved one do not care about properly doing anything and then lie about the hours those people have serviced at the facility as well. Bury your loved one at a place that respects the dead, the ceremonies, etc. This is not the same as hazelwood cemetery which is a better and yet slightly attached to this unfortunately ran mess.
