This was my first time at Hong Kong Inn but not my first cashew chicken experience. Out of all of the different options in Springfield, this one is one of the better choices. The chicken is hot and fresh and free of any gristly pieces. The sauce tastes the way cashew chicken sauce should, not too salty and thick enough to stay coated to the chicken. I got the daily special (for $7.98!) and the portion was more than enough for me. Easily splittable if you’re bringing kiddos. The daily special comes with fried rice and an egg roll, both complementary to the well executed cashew chicken. The service was friendly and extremely fast and the restaurant was spotless. Overall a no frills type of place, but the exact type of Chinese restaurant I could happily find myself in 3 times a week. Check it out if you haven’t!

From my cashew chicken trail series of reviews. If someone has never had cashew chicken, this is where I’d bring them. For starters, I was not warned that the large is LARGE! I had an entire meal leftover. Sauce has that Asian flavor and not chicken gravy flavor. The chicken was decent and breading exactly what I expected, but there was a few dry pieces and one with a big chunk of gristle. Rice was pretty standard egg fried rice, with visible chunks of onion that could have used a bit more fry time. It would have gotten the first 5/5 in the value category if it came with a side item of some sort. If it came with a side, that could have also possibly pushed it to the #1 position. (I’m assuming the combo/special meal was some where on the menu and I just missed it).

well I haven't had cashew chicken in years, I felt this tasted like thick chicken stock over fried chicken. meh.. I only ate 1/4 and I fell fast asleep. terrible on the body! I also said I didn't want white meat but was charged for it anyway an extra $.75 cent. to go order came with large amount of bland rice. the egg roll was pretty good kind of on the larger size. drive thru was fast but I dont think I'll be missing anything if I don't return. I cant get over the lack of any veggies what so ever in Missouri chinese food. even the fried rice has nothing.with in minutes of the food cooling the sauce became a jelly form.

We absolutely love this place!!! We were introduced to this place from a review from Alton Brown and we came here after our bad experience with Leong's if you wish to read what happened to us there.

Alton Brown reviewed three places while he visited Springfield Missouri and wanted to try what he heard so much about with Springfield Style Asian Chicken and gave this place his best review out of three Springfield Asian Style Chicken restaurants respectively.

The food here is amazing. There has not been a bad experience with anything that we have tried on the menu and there is a large selection to choose from. The Cashew Chicken and Sweet and Sour Chicken special all white meat have been consistent in taste, texture, quality and quantity that you get either in dining or through drive through. The meals are large enough to where most of the time we have left overs. If you want larger portions they have those too but you get a lot of food for the money. The sauces are consistently amazing and very tasty and compliment the dish well. The sweet and sour sauce is very balanced and not overly sweet. The chicken is consistently moist and tender and cut apart easily with a fork where other places we have tried have had woody tough texture and hard to chew pieces of chicken. The Crab Rangoon, Wontons and Pot Stickers are awesome appetizers that compliment any entrée choice. The wontons actually have a large portion of meat in them which is a pleasure from other places we have tried when you get a thin small piece of meat in them. The Crab Rangoon are not overly filled with cream cheese and not overly sweet and have amazing flavor and enough Crab meat that you can actually taste Crab. The Chicken Fried Rice is an amazing dish which has this wonderful smoky taste and they give you enough for two meals and they give you a lot of chicken within the fried rice.

All the staff are friendly, helpful and courteous to their customers. The price is not as expensive as sit down higher end Asian restaurants in the area that charge a lot more for the same thing, and the food quality and quantity is better than the high end Asian restaurants around the city where you feel like you just been robbed for a meal that doesn't fulfill your hunger. I feel that you would not be disappointed in trying this place out. Hope you enjoy Hong Kong Inn as...

The only fried rice I will eat in Springfield. Today I picked some up for a quick lunch break at work and it was cold and awful nothing like I've experienced here before. I called to see what could be done and unless you bring the food back then they will do absolutely nothing for you. The whole phone call was completely unprofessional the girl who picked up the phone was not nice then when I asked to speak with a manager the guy just told me sorry for your luck basically.... I will not be going back to this place and will not suggest it for any of my coworkers eithe . We all order lunch together and this would be a big profit for the days we want Chinese. So I guess really it is their loss. Attached is a picture and I did NOT add soy sauce or anything. This is the only thing I ever order from there and when I opened it I could immediately tell by look that it was not going to be amazing like it usually is. But seen as "all their cooks are the same," then I'm just the wrong customer who doesn't know anything. UPDATE fried rice pic added on their page wouldnt let me...

I have been a loyal customer for years. I feel their food is good. I drove through tonight and arrived home without my egg-role that was supposed to come with the combo meal. I drove back with my receipt, requested the egg role and said I thought for my time and someone's lack of attention to my order, I should get 3 crab ran-goon at no charge. The young arrogant man, who said he was the owner, refused my request and was rude and laughing when he closed the window when I said I was a weekly customer and would not be back again. I am going to investigate who the owner is and if it is that man, he is the dumbest business owner I have ever met. And if he is not the owner, the owner will soon know that he impostered himself to be the owner and is losing business. I see other reviews that say they would not correct their mistake and about the dark haired girl being rude and immature. That is the girl I had tonight. I would discourage anyone from doing business at this pathetic restaurant. I wouldn't even give them one star but I was forced to in order to...
