I really enjoyed the wine and bistro here! I am still leaving a 5 star review, as there were plenty of other aspects of my visit that will keep me coming back. The only other employee name I can remember is Morgan. She did make our prior visit spectacular. She spoke respectfully, which I value. I do believe she is the one doing the chalk art, I spoke to her briefly about it. If you are guest considering a visit, I hope you have the pleasure of meeting her and enjoying the wine and art. It’s the little things that matter!
I would recommend this place, however, something needs to be corrected among the staff…..I rarely leave reviews, but this just wasn’t sitting well with me. I’ve been here a couple times now. I would leave employee names, but unfortunately I’m not certain if I’m recalling names correctly; so I’ll just recount the incident first. I don’t want to incorrectly leave names. There seems to be a lack of respect with a couple of employees. One name I can confidently recall is Suzanne. I’m not certain of the other name. They were using inappropriate language and appeared to be talking disrespectfully about another employee. This to me shows a level of disrespect to everyone involved — including the guests. Employees are a representation of the company and brand. Is this what the winery represents? I’m unsure if management is aware of this issue. It did not appear to be a one time occurrence, due to the nature of how comfortable these two women were speaking. If management was aware of this prior to my message, then I hope there are steps being taken to correct this. If management was not aware prior to this, then that is why I’m leaving this review. To me, this is not something to take lightly. This should not be allowed at any workplace. This wouldn’t even be allowed in a middle school. Which, unfortunately, is the age she was acting. This behavior did not ruin my visit, but did put a damper on the afternoon. I’ve dwelled on this issue for a bit now, and decided I needed to speak on it.
I hope to visit again soon when I’m back in the...
Read moreThis Winery is amazing! Being that I am from California right out side of Napa herself, I had high standards and high expectations. This place met all of them and then some. One thing I love about Missouri is that it's a very homely place with people who are most times very friendly and would help you out in anyway they can.
St James Winery was warm and welcoming. They gave us time to sort of look around before helping us and when we were ready they explained the tasting and how it works. At no cost, you get 6 tastes of any of the wines on the tasting menu. They have a little something for everyone on the menu so you're sure to find the one you've been looking for your whole life.
After the tasting we did a tour and learned quite a bit of American history through the journey this family owned Winery went through to get to where they are today. I really loved meeting the scientists behind the flavors and learning about how committed they are to producing high quality. No wonder their wines have won so many awards (which you can see hanging on each award winning bottle on the display shelf).
We selected a couple of our favorites and of course some apple butter (who can resist that) and headed over to the Public House right next door to try out the watermelon flavored logger home fries and took home the troute fritter which were all stellar.
Today was our Anniversary and we had an amazing time, even the gardeners were very friendly and seemed to really enjoy being there. The Garden was a perfect place to have a light meal together and enjoy the couple of bees minding their own business pollinating flowers lol
Anyway, to top things off, the pricing on the wine was very affordable and much more budget friendly than I was used to in Napa or at a local store, it was so worth the 1 hour drive each way.
Please go and try it out for yourself and let me know what your...
Read moreI will start by saying I have 17 years of customer service experience ranging from restaurant management, retail management, bartending and more. I understand rules and regulations, I also understand all team members should be informed and on the same page.
We did our research before choosing St.James Winery for a birthday celebration, made sure we could bring food and have a glass of wine outside etc. There were multiple phone calls and online research.
Upon arriving, we were greeted with terrible customer service and conflicting information. You can only have food directly out front and yes we could buy wine and a six pack of beer to enjoy with. This information was given at St.James winery.
We also needed to buy plastic cups (we forgot them) which they did not have. They sent us to Brew House next door. At Brew House we were told we're allowed to have wine and draft beer (not a six pack) outside and they gave us cups.
After making our purchase at Brew House we left for our table to enjoy our wine and food only to be chased down by an employee to let us know we can't have any open container outside at the concrete tables. You can be in the Brew House patio but you can't bring outside food. So conflicting information all around.
All in all the 14 people that were there will never be back or buy St. James wine again. It was very disappointing. I will be leaving the exact same review on St. James Winery and The Brew House.
I will leave with this lesson I learned in marketing in high school. A customer who has a good experience is likely to tell one person and then they will tell one person and so on, a customer who has a bad experience is likely to tell three and then they will tell three and so on. What is...
