China King — Restaurant in St. James

Their food is always delicious but after what just happened I don't believe I will be eating there again. I waited 30 minutes to pick up my food to ensure it was done, and when I got there I found out they gave my order to someone else. Fine, accidents happen. But they called the other customer to come get their correct order and when that customer came back and gave them back my food, China king tried to rebag it and give me the food the other person took home, with 0 knowledge of what could have been done to it once it left the store. It took about 10 minutes for the customer to return with my order mind you. When I asked them to remake it, the young man at the counter tried to tell me it was "fine" and that the other person "hadn't touched it". Sir, YOU DID NOT KNOW THAT FOR SURE. I did have them remake it, and I ended up having to sit and wait an additional 20 minutes for my food. Im fairly certain he told the other customer over the phone to bring my order back so he COULD give it to me, because otherwise they would have already been in the process of remaking the order and I wouldn't have had to wait so long. Knowing that they were this comfortable giving me food they had no way of knowing had not been tampered with makes me not want to eat...

Sadly, I have no pics because took my order to go and by the time I got home, we couldn't wait to eat! But here's the scoop on the chow...I was in Rolla for work and just for sh?ts and giggles, I decided to Google "Chinese food" and this place jumped out at me.

Surprise. surprise, the food was really good. Not "it's better than nothing because you're in the Missouri" but really good.

The place is spotlessly clean and I came in the afternoon when the family was having lunch...but they were cool to get up and make my food. Let me say that since moving from SoCal, finding good Chinese food here in the Mid West has been a challenge. I have resigned myself to going to KC or StL if I want something legit...but I don't think I have to do that anymore.

The food was tasty, not overly salty and generous in portions. And for all that I ordered, the price was very reasonable. Pork Foo Young w/a generous amount of gravy~ A+ Kung Pao Chicken w/no carrots and celery~ B Shrimp with noodles~ B ( I asked for rice noodle instead of the Chow Mein noodles and received a dish very close to Filipino Pancit. Chicken Wing apps~ Had a distinctive, slight curry flavor B

I will definitely be back and look forward to trying different things,...

China King in St. James is so yummy! I ordered the General Tso's Chicken with fried rice. We ate inside, though China King is mostly a takeout place, it has seating indoors. The woman at the cash register who took out order was very friendly. They don't have a buffet, but their food is of a higher quality than most Chinese restaurants. Their crab Rangoon is the best I've ever had. They are all large and perfectly formed. They aren't greasy, the inside crab and cream cheese isn't too thick or too thin. In fact, they are so good that after being in the fridge, they were so good I ate them cold! I've never had a crab Rangoon so good that I could eat leftovers straight out of the fridge. I read reviews that said China King in STJ is the best Chinese food around, and the reviews were right. I'll definitely be...
