This spot is my go-to whenever someone visits the Gorge. The staff genuinely care, handing out trail maps, updates on closures, and local tips that even Google doesn’t share. They’ve got clean restrooms, free info, and a vibe that feels quietly soulful.

Bonus highlight: they just installed new solar panels and EV chargers, marking the 100th solar project for the Mountain Association, and making Powell County Tourism the first energy-net-zero tourism commission in Kentucky . It’s such a visible reminder that we’re building a better future, right at the trailhead.

We stopped in here while we were at the rest stop. We were just passing through so didn’t need any information, but I did hear them talking to others and they seemed very knowledgeable about the area. They had lots of maps and information to give out. They even had an area for our little one to color. Looked like this would be a great place to gather information...

A very nice and knowledgeable lady at the visitor center marked on the area map and showed me the pictures of all the sights worth of seeing simply by driving along the route 77 and then route 715 .
