Nice well maintained historic site, it's a little disappointing that the buildings isn't better marked with signs and markers labeling their purposes since it's such a nice area. If your not here during a reenactment your not going to get much educational value from the site for yourself or the kiddos.

Great way to spend some time outdoors. The homestead is cool to see, looks like something right out of "The Witch", and there's the Gregory Creek Trailhead right there as well if you are up to walking/biking a trail. Awesome little find in Statesville for sure.

I attended a living history weekend which was very good. The weekend because it was the start of school focused on children and their activities. The volunteers were quite instructful. There is a good collection of houses forming that were brought from all over the county. I only wish signs had been put on the houses to tell who's they were what they were and how they would have fit into a farmstead. I do not know if the side has connected at all to fort Dobbs, but it seems the two sides could work together since they both interpret history...
