So Iâve been waiting 3 months to get my hair cut due to the pandemic. Finally I got through to this salon STARZ! So excited to get my hair done, with the fantastic reviews I figured Iâd have no problem. Well boy was I wrong. First I called and they answered, they were very nice on the phone and made an appointment for me right away but asked me to send a text to their âVery goodâ stylist. (I want to give her name, but I wonât because I donât like to get people in trouble directly) Anyways, I sent this stylist a text with what Iâd like my hair cut to be including a photo from the front and the side. I was looking for a basic hair cut. And wrote down exactly how it was done. Step by step. Iâve been getting this cut for over 10 years. VERY EASY. (A Phohawk, exactly like a Mohawk except with hair showing on the sides) SUPER CUTS can do it in under 20 minutes. I figured if SUPER CUTS could do it, so could a professional hair stylist like her who worked in a fancy hair salon in a fancy town. The first woman I spoke to on the phone who made the appointment was gloating about how amazing this hair stylist was. So I was excited! I was like yes!! Finally, this horrible wait was worth it. A professional stylist who is amazing at their job is going to help me feel better mentally and physically once again! But boy was I was wrong. After I sent her the text I waited and waited for a response but didnât receive one until the following afternoon. Now, this stylist was nice in her text but that doesnât make up for anything. She told me she was âuncomfortableâ cutting a menâs cut. Which is what I want. You know, an easy, fast, short haircut. That your husband or son would get, or your partner that wears their hair short. I was told I would get a call back. I figured I should initiate a call back during these hectic uncertain times, so I made a call and was put on hold for 20 mins and then got cut off. Then later that day I did get a call back. Thatâs what the 2 stars are for above in my review. Because they were kind on the phone and via text. But! On the other hand, they were no help what so ever. They ended up canceling my appointment because of course no one else was available. And now Iâm on the âcancellation listâ that sounds pretty negative to me. No hope there. But seriously. What kind of company hires an âAmazingâ hair stylist who is inept at cutting menâs hair cuts??! That eliminates at least half if not more of the human population. Yeah, hey everyone! Come to our salon where we hire people that canât do their jobs! Sounds like a GREAT salon to me. Iâll make sure to tell all my friends to go! Oh wait, most of my friends are girls with short hair. Oh Darn! Guess we are sh*t...

I want to share my full experience at Starz Salon because while things ended on a great note, the beginning was incredibly stressful and disappointing. My original stylist, Emma, had to cancel last minute due to illness, which I completely understood. Since I was heading out of town for vacation and needed my hair done beforehand, the salon rescheduled me for that Saturday with another stylist (whom I wonât name out of courtesy). Unfortunately, the appointment went terribly. I was quoted a price and given a timeframe of 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. for a tone, glaze, and haircut. I ended up being there from 11 a.m. until after 3 p.m. nearly four hours and I never even received the haircut. The total price I paid was much more than originally quoted (even without the haircut) The color process was poorly executed: my hair came out overly ashy, spotty, and completely off from what I requested. The stylist had to re-glaze it, but I was still charged for that re-glaze even though it was correcting her own mistake. I also specifically said I didnât want a full blow-dry just enough to make sure my hair looked okay for my trip but I was still charged for a full 30-minute blow dry I never wanted. Worse, during the service, I told the stylist that my scalp was hurting, and she dismissed it, saying it was probably just âstress.â When I got home, my husband noticed visible burn marks on my scalp. That was alarming and honestly made me feel extremely uncomfortable. Then, she told me she wanted to dry my hair before cutting it, which is not standard and made me extremely uncomfortable. At that point, I was so uneasy with the entire experience that I lied and said I had another appointment just to get out of the chair. I left without a haircut and very upset. To the salonâs credit, the owner personally reached out to me afterward, apologized, and promised to make it right. Although it couldnât be fixed immediately due to the holiday weekend and my vacation, they followed throughâŚ
When I returned, Emma (my original stylist) was finally able to see me, and she did an incredible job. She corrected the color beautifully, gave me a deep shampoo treatment, and finally gave me the haircut Iâd originally booked. Sheâs professional, kind, and clearly knows what sheâs doing.
Iâm not writing this to bash Starz Salon. Mistakes happen but clients should never leave with burns, poor color, or feeling dismissed. That said, itâs not about how you start, but how you finish and the salon made sure I was taken care of in the end. Thank you, Emma and the team, for...
Read moreWe scheduled for a 12pm cut/blow dry, but were not greeted by the stylist until 12:10. She then told us that she did not have enough time to do âall of [my daughterâs] hair. She claimed that the way we had scheduled online did not allow for enough time to get it done. We were just looking for a wash, blow dry, and trim. She did not come out to tell us about this time crunch until after she had finished with her previous client - which cut into our time significantly. We sat for 10 minutes before anyone even approached us, meanwhile people with lighter skin than ours were told to come right in and sit down in their chairs to start getting washed. The stylist was rude and seemingly blaming the appointment scheduling on me. The receptionist seemed to understand that if there was any issue with scheduling it had everything to do with their online scheduling system, and not me. The stylists reference and gesture towards my daughterâs hair was offensive, as was her general attitude and treatment of us. I do not recommend any person with African American hair try this salon. Or do, but know that there are stylists here who may not have time to deal with all...
