I love this place, because is good helping kids reading. A nice and quiet place for kids. Algo I included some photos about bathroom paper for some girls.

What is it with these librarians disrespecting our elderly in our community ? I don't get it. These people are literally exploiting the most vulnerable in our city. This should not be happening.

This is what happened. Today at Sunrise library, around 3pm, I all of a sudden hear the librarian in the computer use area yelling at, and arguing with an elderly man, kind of provoking him and belittling him the whole time.

He starts walking away from her and she's following him, still yelling at him. He told her to get away from him and she finally did. My daughter and I were shook to the core. This canNOT be happening again!!

About 10 mins, after things died down, I went to her desk and asked her why was she yelling at that senior citizen like that. She looked shocked and she said, "Excuse me?!!" I repeated my question. She said, "Cuz he was yelling at me!!" 😐🙄🧐 It's crazy cuz her voice was the only voice we heard in the library tho.

I replied with, you're the professional here to be of service to us but instead, you were escalating instead of de-escalating the situation. I told her that her actions worked my nerves to see her doggedly attacking that man like that and she disturbed everybody's peace.

I told her I was reporting her behavior. She then looked shocked again andsaid in a sarcastic manner, loudly, "You're reporting me !!!??" I said very much so.

She then ran to the back somewhere to cover her actions with other staff members. In the meantime, I approached the elderly victim and apologized for her actions and explained that the library is one of the few places left for us to feel safe and protected and she violated our peace in the worst way. He was so grateful that he started stuttering and thanked me for caring. I let him get it all out his system and hugged him.

I then went back to the computer area to the other computer staffer and requested to speak to a Manager. I spoke with him and basically told him the story. He said to tell management or go to a different area away from her.

I declined the offer cuz I'm not the problem, she is. Fix her attitude and things will be fine. I said I will be following up with management.

While I was speaking with him, the elderly gentleman came in during our discussion and thanked me again and said how grateful he was that somebody cared about his safety. I hugged him again.

In the meantime, when I go back to my computer, the rude library lady is bringing out 4 or 5 other staff members and security. There's no telling what she told them to cover herself.

They switched her from working that desk and security was hanging around but finally left after 5 minutes.

Stop traumatizing our elderly. They don't have much time left in this world and stop traumatizing the patrons who have to be exposed to that type of violent encounter from library staff...

I wanted to take a moment to express my deep disappointment regarding an incident that occurred during my recent visit to the Sunrise Library.

On August 9, 2023, my son and I visited the library, as we often do, to enjoy some quality time together. However, our experience took an unexpected turn when I was called to the back room by one of the librarians. To my shock and dismay, I was informed that we were being asked to leave due to complaints from other parents regarding my son's behavior.

I cannot express the range of emotions I felt upon hearing this news. I was taken aback because I had been right by my son's side throughout our visit. The accusation that he was involved in fighting and bullying left me utterly stunned. As a mother, it is my utmost priority to ensure my son behaves responsibly and treats others with respect. I can assure you that I witnessed his interactions closely, and it was the opposite situation: he was being followed and harassed by a couple of children who were trying to take his belongings.

This entire experience has left me deeply upset and shaken. It is disheartening to think that such a misunderstanding has led to our expulsion from a place we've come to cherish. I believe in fostering an environment of understanding and collaboration, where children can learn and grow together. To have my son unjustly labeled as a troublemaker goes against these principles.

I kindly request that you review the situation thoroughly and reconsider the decision made. I am more than willing to provide additional information or even facilitate a discussion to clear up any misconceptions that might have arisen during our visit.

Ultimately, my goal is for the Sunrise Library to remain a space where families can come together to learn, share, and enjoy the wonders of literature. I hope this unfortunate incident can be resolved so that we can continue to be a part of the...

My 16 year old son and I went today,to renew our library cards. We haven't been in to visit the library for a while now. After the kind woman at the front desk helped us obtain and get our new cards. We were able to walk around and see lot's of books and dvds for rent. My son actually checked out 3 books that were of interest to him, and I know that we will be spending a lot more quality time together there at the library. Great place for families and friends to come to and learn something new or to learn a new language or learn how to paint. The world is open to you, just think of a topic and I'm sure you will find out that someone has written a book about it! Put down the phone, or gaming device and learn something new and interesting to share with friends and family. The more we know the more we share with other's, and it makes us more interesting to talk to, being you have more information to share with other's! Sometimes it's useless information and sometimes it's information that can help you, or even save someone's life! Definitely check out this great library you won't be...
