Want to see how far you can push yourself? This place will test you. I am sooo not a fitness person but I do the homes for the waterfalls. The overlooks are gorgeous. But if you do take the hike down 531 steps to only climb up them, come prepared. Water is a must! Might even want to take a power bar. Going on the suspension bridge was amazing, it moves a little bit, and with the right people it's not scary. Unless you have my kids that like to jump and see if they could make it swing. The gorge floor was closed when we went due to rain but it was still a beautiful site. I do say they should have an out house by the suspension bridge. Lol
There's also a really neat interpretive center where the trail all starts. Pretty...
Read moreI’ve lived in Georgia for many years, but I’ve never been to Hurricane Falls. What a treat it was. The area is pristine and very well maintained by the Department of Natural Resources. The walk down to the bridge is not for the faint of heart. There are 1067 steps just down to the bridge. I wouldn’t recommend doing this unless you are in very good shape and there are even signs cautioning visitors. We made the trek down and it was worth every one of those steps. The climb back up was a little tough, but it was the end of a long day, and we both made it just fine. I’d love to be able to come back here again and go all the way to the bottom of the falls. Next time we’ll make this our first stop in,...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite places in Georgia! I am never tired of walking up and down one more time around this extraordinary waterfall. They have an indoor exhibition and plenty of historical information. Also, it is close to campgrounds. River access and Lake Burton. You can spend a whole week around this area and never get bored. People are aware you have to be some kind into fitness level because the stairs and climbing are strenuous. Also, there are different hiking trails, and if you arrive early in the morning, maybe they allow you to get all the way down to the waterfall and get into the water there. $5 parking. My recommendation is to get the annual pass $40 for all the Georgia State...
