Great park with large fenced off dog park, that has been decorated with landscaping which is a nice change than many of the other dog parks I’ve been to. However, I ended up having to pick up my 10lb Yorker and carry him out because there were too many very large dogs and a few of them a bit too aggressive with him. Dogs that weren’t necessarily mean or vicious but didn’t know their own strength in combination with extremely persistent/annoying, despite my dog either ignoring them or becoming defensive because he feels he has to and makes it pretty clear to those dogs that he doesn’t want to play with them/be left alone. Nonetheless, I began getting nervous. In 2016, he want violently attacked by a pit bull in my apt complex which was terrifying n horrific to witness and it was a miracle he survived, at all. We both get a little anxiety and feel nervous or on edge in those situations. So, my complaint is that there should be 2 sections, fenced off from each other. One for small dogs and another for large dogs, instead just one big open space where all sizes are mixed in together. It’s just, I think, safer and more effective because I know a lot of dogs that seem to benefit most from the socializing/interaction with other dogs if they are around the same size. They tend to relax more than they aren’t intimidated, defensive, feel threatened, or physically unable to compete or defend themselves if necessary. Plus, it’s easier to play/wrestle with someone ur own size, or close to. I ended up to letting him roam around the reg open public section of the park where the playground n baseball fields are but that defeats the purpose of why I bring him to dog parks, in the 1st place. That is, to socialize n play with other dogs, which he doesn’t have at home since he is...
Read moreThe fishing pond is stocked with small fish and is easy to walk to, pay attention to signs for fishing and trespassing. Please don’t litter or vandalize the park or pond to help preserve nature and keep public places open and free to visit. If you would like to walk around in garbage, you may be able to schedule a tour of the local dump. If you cannot resist the urge to carve into the wood or spray paint, go find an art class or buy a panel of fencing from Home Depot and cherish your artwork forever in your own space. Remember, you trash community places or other peoples property, your disrespecting he rest of us, yourself as a person, your intelligence, and your family by presenting yourself as someone that wasn’t taught how to be a decent person or someone that does not have the intelligence to understand how to use a trash can or that we don’t draw n the walls. This is a great park for all ages and activities. There is a large grass field, a walking path, pavilions, playgrounds, and trash cans. There is also a dog park with activities for the furry family members, a walking path around the park, and covered benches for the humans to relax on. There is a water fountain for the pets and a double gated area to leash and...
Read moreLove the park, its controlled, most of all, the dogs here play well together, love the people here. Great environment for dogs. Down fall is dogs must be licence to enter the dog park by the city of taylorsville which is the city hall on 5600 south, 2nd floor. All u need is a copy of the dogs rabies shots which is a requirement. They also ask if they are micro chipped, and if nutered/spaded. If they are either nutered or spaded, it's much cheaper. License is about $10-$25 for the year per dog. The dog park is closed on Tuesdays all day and Saturday at 5:00pm and opens back up on Sunday at 4pm. This park doesn't open till 7am which I'm forced to take my dog to the one in west Jordan on 90th south at 6:00am if i want him to excercise early. A little of an Inconvenience for me. Their reason for closing the park is to allow the grass to breathe.... eh... West Jordan dog park has full grass area and is twice as big.. and doesn't close in the middle of the week and I think the grass there is...
